Eagles release Babin

He was vocal in the locker room about his teammates mistakes and is a one trick pony. He would not work here.

I believe the Lions use the Wide so that could be a fit.

he played in a 3-4 under Capers so he is not a stranger to the 3-4 defense

why not try him out?

Hell yes. Guy is better than Poppinga or Guyton. Cowboys need to save their season and adding another catalytic player only makes sense. Especially if the D is not blitzing and just rushing 3 or 4. Might as well rush the best 3 or 4 you got.

Babin is better than every pass rusher on the Cowboys roster not named Ware. This is a no brainer Jerry. It also gives the Cowboys some options at year end with Spencer.

I'm ENTIRELY serious. I only entertain signing Babin if we wanted to use him as a 3rd down rusher, which he won't do. Besides, who do you want him o take snaps from? Ware? Spencer? No thanks

If Wade and the Giants can figure a way to get their best pass rushers in a game together then why can't Rob Ryan?

I'd rather go with youth. If we draft a little better we can get someone better than Babin.

He was all over the radio doing 'damage control' last night.

Jumped from one ESPN interview to another and then straight to Sirius/NFL radio. In a span of about ten minutes.

Former Eagle Hugh Douglas said flat out that "this guy quit. Anyone can look at the tape."

He called him out as clearly as anyone could have.

Bashed him for quitting on the coach who took a chance on him and helped him to resurrect his career.

After hearing it, I wouldn't want any part of him.

They cut him because he quit on the team.

He's 32 and his production fell through the floor.

But sure go right ahead. ;)

Doesn't he have enough seniority to choose where he goes?

Good question.

Vested veterans are not subject to waivers until after the trade deadline.

Officially claimed by Jacksonville, the first 4-3 defense in the waiver wire order. Not bad for a guy who supposedly can't play.

Jacksonville are not know for their excellent talent evaluation. Strange they would do it now, not like he can help them this year.

Jason Babin was interviewed about his release yesterday by ESPN and he flat out said that after he received the phone call from Reid, he basically laughed it off.

Even during his interview he was laughing at what had happened, and couldn't figure out why he was let go.

If you think Jacksonville is the only team that was interested, you must be one of those people who believe Babin is uniquely bad against the run and that every great pass outside rusher in the NFL is also a great run defender (Aldon Smith couldn't stack and shed Verne Troyer). Jacksonville just had first dibs on him.

It's past the trading deadline, the Eagles have tanked the season, he was going to be a salary cap casualty in the offseason, and he was currently blocking a former 1st round draft pick and a former 2nd round pick and taking their reps. Doesn't mean he can't play or that he can't be a valuable player on another franchise.

I would have reduced his snaps and tried to flip him for a draft pick in the offseason, but I'm guessing there's not a lot of calm rational thought and foreward longterm vision going on at Eagles Headquarters at the moment.

You have quite the talent for misunderstanding posts. But by all means keep pigeonholing.
