McNabb - 6 Pro Bowls,4 div titles, 5 nfc championship games, 1 SB appearance, eagles all time leader in all things passing

Romo - 3 pro bowls, 2 div titles, 0 championship games, 0 SB appearances, most likely will be all time leader in all things passing (more additions TBD)

1) Would Dallas hang #5 in the stadium if he was a cowboy, given the same accomplishments?
2) What will it take for #9 to hang in the rafters?
3) What is your bar for jersey retirement? HOF? SB Ring? 5+ pro bowls?

To be honest, I am not sure where I am on this one. I am not sure I would hang #5 in my stadium. But when I think about it, McNabb was pretty darn good. 5 div title games is impressive. 1-4 making the next step is not.

I think Romo has a very real chance to be in the same league as McNabb if he can hold up physically. Win a few div rings, make a NFC championship game or two, and maybe get lucky enough to make the big show.

If Romo wins 0 rings and makes one SB show, do we hang #9 right beside the big screen?

I think this is a great comparison. Granted the Eagles don't have the folklore that Dallas does, but the player comparison's are really not that far off.

Have to win a Super Bowl to get in the ROH. Absolutely have to.

That's not a requirement in Philly, because they've never won one lol. But Dallas has a much better pedigree.

I tend to agree with that also.

How about these examples? Matt Hasselback. Rich Gannon. Boomer Esiason. Dan Fouts. Fran Tarkenton. Sonny Jurg.....(never mind I Hate that guy)

Do they hang in Jerry Land?

For a franchise with no championships McNabb's resume is very impressive and a no brainer to have his jersey retired. For a franchise with 5 championships I'm not sure why we're asking this question about Romo.

Romo isn't worthy of his # hanging in the rafters. Never will be IMO.

Well, I won't go so far as to say he never will be worthy (I think he has some more football left in him). Having said that, it is HIGHLY unlikely. Romo showed me who he was a while back, and I believed him. You know what, he has proven to be a very honest and revealing QB, unfortunately.:(

Like I said the standards are different because of the two franchises. But personally I think leading a team to 5 NFC championship games (4 in 4 straight years) and a SB appearance would be deserving of having his number retired anywhere. Winning a championship is hard, it's also hard to be as dominant as those Philly teams were. I'm not sure Romo will even see one NFC championship game.
