Eagles' Shawn Andrews' ankle worse than expected? Out for year? *Merge*

Just got finished talking to Shawn Andrews, who hasn't practiced since hurting his right ankle the fourth day of training camp at Lehigh. The Eagles have been saying Andrews has a sprained ankle, and head coach Andy Reid hasn't made this sound like a serious injury. But Andrews sounded ominous today in his first public remarks since he got hurt.
Although Andrews refused to say exactly what is wrong with his ankle, he said that when his ankle specialist told him his options, "It was a tear jerker."
Asked whether that means he may need surgery or that this injury may be career-threatening, Andrews said he couldn't comment, although he did say, "I don't know what the future holds."
Andrews underwent surgery on his ankle as a rookie and missed the entire 2004 season. But by last year, he had become one of the toughest blockers in the NFL and started in the Pro Bowl and was named to the NFL All-Pro team.
Reid, in a prepared statement, said only, "He's making progress on his ankle."

I live in the area. Thought this sounded bad from day one.
When they send a 350 lb guy home with an ankle injury in an aircast and a cain....that's a baaaaad sign.

Eagles are notorious for this type of crap. They just love to drag out this stuff out.

Just fes up and admitt that your 26 year old All Pro Guard is out indefinetly.
That the cornerstone of your OL will not play for quite some time.
That your chances of winning this year have taken a HUUUUGE HIT.

I'm guessing he doesn't take the field for at least two months, and nowhere near 100% when he does.

I also believe there's a real good chance he doesn't play this year.

It's a part of football. I don't feel bad for them. Every team is going to sustained serious injuries, and that's a fact. I don't gloat either. Because I know we are going to lose players, it's just a matter of time.

Eagles G Shawn Andrews could reportedly be done for the season.

Andrews' injury was originally diagnosed as a sprain, but described his recent meeting with a specialist as a "tear jerker." The emerging Pro Bowl mauler was seen on crutches and in a boot as early as last week.
