Eagles Sign WR Johnson

posted: March 8, 2007
By DAVE SPADARO

Bethel Johnson defines speed. A former second-round draft pick of New England in 2003, Johnson has played four years in the NFL primarily as a kickoff return man and he has yet to be caught from behind.
Hopefully, that means his best football is ahead of him.

Johnson, who played for three seasons in New England and then last year in Minnesota, signed a one-year deal with the Eagles

Good special teams player, could play some receiver in a pinch. Not bad if he makes the roster.

I'm guessing he received the minimum.

I find this very amusing and interesting.

I understand that Stallworth has had injury history, but he was their best receiver last year, and the only reason they won a couple of their games.

However, b/c it is the Eagirls, i love watching their WR troubles, i guess TO really screwed them up...haha.

Now we just need to get a 2-3 TD game from TO next season against them.

Seems like you are the only one thus far that picked up the strategy in signing this guy ...you're exactly right!

Doesn't mean we won't re-sign Stallworth. But it does possibly mean no more Reno Mahe (return specialist).

You may not be able to re-sign Stallworth. It depends on him, New England, and how that offer sheet is going to be judged. Plus his rehab and how that all goes.

C'mon Talon, im not starting trouble, but, you are a good poster, but are you a realist? You know the birds are not going to resign Stallworth, the birds didnt ever OFFER ANY contract to the player that saved your season:Garcia. Not even an offer???? The birds have let stallworth fly the coup...

Feeley is a good solid backup. Besides, I'm hoping this is the year that McNabb stays healthy.

As usual Hos, your words ring with wisdom. Stallworth is a weapon for us, and under the strong arm of McNabb he could really become an asset. No doubt we could do worse. NE already got Welker, I think they were put off by Stallworth being in rehab. But I think Stallworth could do worse in getting picked up by another franchise also.

I think it's going to be a mutual arrangement that the Eagles and Stallworth will agree to.

Sure you could be right ...but knowing the Eagles like I do, I've come to realize that they see the value in a solid WR corp ...especially with a Big gun in the backfield. By the way, Feeley has a stronger arm than Garcia.
