Position by position sneak-peek snap shot look at who playing what position on both sides of the ball, and who in your opinion is the better athlete at that position ...

My choices (how I see it as an Eagles fan), will be in bold highlight.

QB Mcnabb versus Romo = Eagles

Westbrook versus Jones/Barber = Eagles

Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis versus T.O. and Terry Glenn = Dallas

L.J. Smith versus Jason Witten = Dallas

Eagles OLine versus Dallas Oline = Eagles
Gaither/Takeo Spikes/Trotter versus Ellis/James/Ayodele/Ware = Eagles

Brown, Shepperd and James versus Newman, Henry and Glenn = Dallas

Dawkins and Considine versus Roy Williams and Ken Hamlin = Dallas

Andy Reid versus Wade Phillips = Eagles

Feel free to make any modification or comments (I just want to dialogue, I'm not trying to be disrespectful of peave anyone).

I would say the LBs are a push as they are now. Westbrook vs the combo of JJ and Barber is at worst a PUSH right now- they combined for a lot more then Westbrook did, expecially TDs.

Let's make a deal and revisit this opinion should Spencer get the nod over Ellis, hmm?

[Edit] My bad. Add the possibility of Carpenter or Burnett starting over James also.

There's no way Philly's LB core is superior to Dallas'. What the heck has Omar Gaither proven in his career so far? Trotter is clearly on the downfall of his career and Takeo Spikes hasn't been healthy since 2005. Ware is a monster. You combine him with Spencer/Ellis who excel at getting to the QB and you have a scary pass rush. James was horrific last year but Ayodele was solid, especially at the end of the year (He was one of the few who played well in December). Dallas clearly has better talent AND depth at the LB position. No mention of Kevin Burnett or Bobby Carpenter...

The Cowboys definitely have better RB DEPTH. When I evaluate each position, I go by talent and depth. There's no doubt Westbrook is the most talented but there's very little depth behind him. Buckhalter is half the player Barber is and Tony Hunt is unproven.

When it comes to the QB position, a 75% healthy McNabb is not superior to a 100% healthy Tony Romo.

The only two I agree with you on is Andy Reid/Wade Phillips and the Dallas OL/Philly OL.

I can agree with most of that, Linebackers and Running Backs are more of a "push" to me though. It's hard to compare though considering we have a 3-4 and the Eagles play a 4-3.

Why didn't you include D-Line? Since I'd probably give the edge soundly to the Eagles on that one?

I'd like to say Romo is better than McNabb but I can't, not yet, hopefully I can very soon. :D

In all honestly, I have to admit one advantage McNabb has over Romo.

When it comes to projectile vomiting, McNabb is head-and-shoulders above all of his NFL peers.

Even Linda Blair is in awe of his prowess.

DWare is the best player on either team... no way the Eagles LB corp is superior as long as he is on the field.

PT, I agree with your assessment and last season pretty much confirms all of your choices. I want to discuss two of them.

McNabb vs. Romo is the most important item in the offensive comparison because McNabb has such a huge impact. If your coaching staff retains the offensive balance displayed last season, the Eagles will be tough indeed. The key falls upon McNabb (and Romo) staying healthy. If either one of thoses guys go down, the team(s) will sink with him. I have little confidence in Brad Johnson, and AJ Feely is no Jeff Garcia. McNabb has more to prove in this area and running the ball more frequently will help McNabb stay healthy.

The key advantage for the Eagles lies in the continuity of coaching philosophy and staff so Reid vs Phillips is perhaps the largest key of all. The addition of Mornhinwheg as OC for the Eagles made a big difference last season when he introduced the balanced attack. Jim Johnson, as always, does a great job for the Eagles.

The question mark for the Cowboys lies in the ability of this coaching staff to get more out of the players. The Cowboys and Eagles are now fairly close in talent IMO and coaching (and scheme) matters. McNabb is probably better than Romo if he can stay healthy. The Eagles are still deeper on both the OL and DL although our starters are probably pretty close. Andy Reid has pretty much owned the Cowboys this millenium and I'm ready for that to change.

It should make for some pretty good games this season.....we'll see.

Eagles LB's are even close to the Cowboys.

The main problem on defense last year for Philly was weak LBer play.

Trotter is old and cannot get to the corners on sweeps and screens.

Gaither is OK and Spikes is a good player, but not close to Ware.

and the bottom line is no matter how many times the eagles fans say that the boys havent done anything in the last 10 years, until they win a bowl their dominance the last 5 years is for nothing and the window is closing fast on them...

Just going on memory, wasn't the Eagles DL very mediocre vs. the running game most of last season? And I don't think their top pick from the last draft did anything to help.

As for the LB comparion, I think Dallas definitely gets the nod over the Eagles.

It's difficult to compare Romo vs. McNabb right now. Romo is still relatively unproven, whereas McNabb is coming off various injuries over the past several years and has probably already peaked at the QB position. In fact, the argument could be made McNabb is on the downside of his career (and the Eagles drafted a QB in the 2nd as a result).

i agree except jones/barber can run the ball. westbrook is a reciever playin rb and i doubt can take the beating like jj(don't get me wrong julius is nothing special). looking at lastyear you're right about the lbs but with the new system i think we might have the advantage. we also drafted a man beast in anthony spencer and carp will get some playing time. but other than that i agree
