Eagles' Westbrook back on Sunday after concussion?
By Mark J. Miller
Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook took a knee to the head during the first quarter of Monday night's victory against the Washington Commanders that knocked him out and causes some memory loss. But Eagles head coach Andy Reid is apparently not convinced that Westbrook will be out of the lineup next Sunday when his Birds take on the archrival New York Giants.
Reid is supposedly "counting on" Westbrook being there. Well, he better get a new plan because doctors seem to be doubtful that he'll be ready to put his head back into a helmet before Sunday's faceoff, according to Philly.com.
"Right now, I'm counting on he'll be there, and I know he'll want to be there, so there is a fine line there because this guy is so competitive that he wants to be out there every minute," Reid said last night.
Meanwhile, former Eagles and Philadelphia Flyers doc Art Bartolozzi told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Westbrook will not only likely miss the Giants matchup but also the one the following week against the Dallas Cowboys.
"If he was unconscious, he is probably out at least a few weeks," Bartolozzi said. "The brain is like a computer. Amnesia means the hard drive has been shaken. If you lose data, it tells you something is wrong with the computer."
