Ealy visit?

For the record, I'm fine that they didn't sign a deal immediately. Ealy would be strictly a depth signing and should be treated as such. If he's looking to get paid more than that, he can look elsewhere or go back to playing for the going-nowhere Jets.

I give credit to the Cowboys front office for having a number and sticking to it.

That "No Income Tax State" idea must not have worked out very well. Not gonna come to Texas and play
for biscuits when you can party hearty in NYC.

What is the property on a million dollar home in New Jersey?

Square feet in Texas.

Square feet in New Jersey.

I laugh when people bring up the "no sales tax" thing like it is some big time sweetener in a negotiation.

It is nice, but hardly something that influences a decision.

Even if he were more of a front line player it would put the team in a bad negotiating position if they appeared so eager to keep the player from leaving The Start that they appeared willing to do/pay whatever it takes to keep him there. And it would put the player in a bad negotiating position if he appeared so eager to sign with the team he wasn't willing to leave the Star until a deal is done. It is a negotiation folks, and even if both sides think things may work out, both sides are still posturing.

Correct. Players want bragging rights regarding their deals along with guaranteed money. Players agents want the bigger contracts for their own reasons.

If the no sales tax thing was that much of a big deal, the Cowboys, Texans, Bucs and Dolphins would be rolling in the free agents.

They were talking about state income taxes. It may not be the major talking point in a negotiation, but if all things are pretty equal between 1 team and another, losing 9% of a player's salary to a state income tax could be a pretty big motivation to go with the team that doesn't have a state income tax..

Sure, but let's face it, when the money is right, these deals get done quickly. If it's not, they don't.

Again, I choose to give the team credit for having a number and letting the player walk if they don't accept it.

Kony Ealy would be a part of a rotation here. If he's looking for starter's money, he can find it elsewhere. Or come back when he doesn't.

They could write it off on their federal taxes up until this coming year.

PS. Probably gave him a coach fare ticket home.

PS. What many folks don't realize is not paying state income tax is huge. If money is even close he will sign here because he won't be paying a rate of at least 6.85 percent to the state of New York. If he got a million dollar signing bonus, NY state would be taking him at 8.82 percent. That's a boat load of coin.
Not how it works....
