In about 10 days, the NFL 2025 season begins and free agency opens. The Boys have a bit of work to do from now until it starts. Mainly getting Osa, Lewis, and Dowdle resigned along with the most likely bit of restructure of Dak and Lamb's contracts. Sure we would like to see Parsons resigned by then although knowing how the Jones work, we shouldn't expect anything until August with that solution.
Free agency will much depend on how many and who the Jones decide to resign or if they can resign them. Lewis and Dowdle are the most likely to resign along with a few others like with our LS and P. Turpin, Bell, Wheat, and Hoffman are restricted in one way or another and will receive offers that if signed elsewhere would bring about a 3rd day draft pick in 2026. DL is a must to shore up again so sure they will make an effort to keep Osa and maybe Gholston but they definitely need more, especially run stuffers.
We know from experience over the last few years that the Jones will NOT be big players in free agency until the 3rd or 4th week of free agency with the "leftovers". But for the sake of this post, I'm going to say they take a shot or two to actually help the defense. I believe that make a decent offer to Osa but not sure they believe he is a long answer and see him moving on.
In free agency, as much as I would like them to sign a Milton Williams DT Eagles to a 5 year deal, not a chance that will happen. So could see them trying to sign a Onwuzurike or Wharton or D.J. Jones and then a couple of 1 year guys later on. Could see them make an attempt to sign Chase Young DE but ultimately not. Probably settle on signing DLaw but to a one year deal if no other team picks him up. They will sign a LB and hopefully someone like Dre Greenlaw but more likely a vet in his 30s for a MLB type. Believe they sign OL Will Hernandez as a bridge at RG. Believe Boys are higher Mingo upside at WR as #2 guy than fans so could see them sign someone like Keenan Allen on a one year deal.
We go into the draft needing a true #2 WR, a RB, a DE, a DT as the main needs but you can always use another CB. Will not be surprised if we several trades by Dallas but still believe that they will be more about future picks. Still believe the Jones are targeting Arch Manning as the eventual successor to Dak and I don't believe Arch will be in the 2026 draft but in the 2027 draft.
1st round - see them trading down say 6 spots and taking Mike Green DE/ED Marshall and picking up a 3rd, 4th and 4th in 2026.
2nd round - Jihaad Campbell LB Alabama
3rd round - JJ Pegus DT Ole Miss
3rd round - Ollie Gordon II RB Oklahoma St.
4th round - Charles Grant OT/OG William&Mary
5th round - Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech
5th round - Sai'vion Jones DL LSU
5th round - Donte Thornton Jr. WR Tennessee
6th round - DJ Uiagalelei QB Florida St
6th round - Jamaree Caldwell DT Oregon
7th round - Ty French LB West Virginia
7th round - Moliki Matavao TE UCLA
