Not every scout, personnel director, or general manager is in love with Jadeveon Clowney.

There’s at least one who doesn’t like the University of South Carolina pass rusher at all.

“He’s spoiled, and he’s lazy,’’ the NFC personnel man said. “He’s never worked hard a day in his life, now all of a sudden you’re going to give him a bunch of money and expect him to work hard. I don’t see it.’’

Clowney, who despite one man’s convictions, is going to be a top five pick in next month’s draft.

He could be the No. 1 pick, if Houston decides it doesn’t like any of the quarterbacks enough.

“Oh, he’s going to be a high pick,’’ the personnel man said. “Some team will fall in love with him. But wait and see, just wait and see. I just don’t think you can count on him. I’m betting the under on him.’’

The same personnel man isn’t crazy about any of the defensive linemen in this draft.
“It’s a bad year,’’ he said. “It’s the worst group I’ve seen in a long time.’’

Here’s a look at that group

All the more reason to go BPA or trade down early.

I'm not thrilled what DL could be available at #16 outside of Donald.

Barr... Jerrigan... Early... Ford...

Not big on any of them.

If anybody ever wonders why there are so many bad draft picks, look no further than these types of comments to show the mentality of some scouts.

I'm starting to agree with people who say Aaron Donald is the only sure shot 4-3 D-lineman in the 1st round. I would trade up a few spots for him but I wouldn't want to lose any picks in this draft since the talent in rounds 2-5 is good. This draft isn't very top heavy but there is good talent in the mid-rounds. I wouldn't be opposed to trading a pick from next year to move up a few spots to get Donald. Maybe this year's 1st and next year's 2nd to move up to #11 to get Donald? I would do it.

I wouldn't trade up for him.

I'd take my prime offensive lineman or my prime LB and be done with the first round.

There are several quality defensive lineman from rounds 2-4.

I'd let the draft come to me and not force anything.

On Aaron Donald:

“I don’t know about this guy,’’ the personnel man said. “You look at him, and he’s too small. But then you watch him and all he does is produce. I’m torn on him.’’

Precisely what I thought of him earlier on

“He’s a real good pass rusher,’’ the scout said. “He doesn’t kill you in the run game, but you don’t want him out there all the time.’’

This is what I think of him now, not going to play every snap, have to rotate him some and sub him in, he is not a guy you want to wear down 17 weeks against NFL olinemen. Keep him fresh keep his snaps limited to keep him most effective

I think that's the goal for all the defensive lineman on this club... hopefully at some point being able to emulate Seattle who had 7 defensive linemen from play from 488 to 617 snaps.

Last season Dallas had 3 defensive linemen play over 750 snaps.

Where Dallas is hopefully going would be a place that Donald can fit in IMO.

I completely disagree with the comments about Nix. If you watch tape you can see him shoot gaps when he is allowed to. He is a disruptive one who can also rush the passer.

Unfortunately for Dallas, we are in dire need of DL help, among other places.

But fortunately I think the scouts are talking about impact DL players. We really just need QUALITY DL. That will already be a massive improvement over last yr.
