It will be one that everybody regrets in a couple of years, but fans are caught up in his one very good season right now, so the blinders are on.

It's the same people who told me we should sign Free and Austin and Newman and Owens and Barber and Ratliff and so on.

Free and Austin were young players who's played had earned a contract.

Austin is still good, just far too injured.

Free is beyond horrible and I don't think anyone would have ever thought he would have regressed to that extent.

I think it's a bit irrational to lump these two into the mix.

He's had more than one very good season, but I'm not thrilled about locking another player up into his mid-30s

I hear ya both Romo and Specer will both be regrets if resigned.I rather go down a diff road but will support the team either way. Cant wait to see the posts next year same time if we sign both at least i have something to look forward to i guess :banghead:

He's 29, a five year contract would have him at 33 which is early 30s.

Its not that Spencer isn't any good or cant play for 3-5 more years its more we need help to make this team better. Being broke and fielding the same team or draft pic and having money to fix our lines. i would go with the second option this team needs help and not gonna happen with the same team we had last year and only 6 draft pics and no money. I think this is the year to have money so many good players are gonna be on the street after the draft that will be looking for work and not care about the money as much.

Well, last I checked, 29 + 5 = 34 :laugh2:

Either way, I agree with you.

Season 1 - 29, season 2 - 30, season 3 - 31, season 4 - 32, season 5 - 33.

Laugh's on you buddy. This season he's 29, 30, 31, 32, 33. That's five seasons of his contract.

I understand what Risen Star is saying...

Hey I agree with him on a lot of those– especially those for positions that are easier to replace (RB-Barber, WR-Austin, Roy Williams) and where players over 30 are involved (Flozell Adams, Ratliff... And going back a few years Larry Allen).

Jerry falls in love with these guys and it has made the club less competitive.

Exactly. I was going to write the same thing. Free and Austin made sense at the time. The others were highly questionable even then.

Another successful day by the media getting everyone up in arms over nothing.. They could have at least gotten information from Huff or his agent on how the meeting went.

I'm sure Jerry will wait till tomorrow to announce some ridiculous contract for Romo. There is a break in March Madness and he will get maximum press.

Romo for 5 years 85 mil is the rumor I heard, guaranteed money is where two sides are finally coming to a mutual understanding.

That would be a horrible deal. I really hope that's not true.

RAT played at a pro bowl level for several years under a ridiculous rookie contract. I think Jerry just felt obligated to add some back pay when he signed his next contract. No big deal, if you look at the service he provided over the years he has been a mainstay of the defense over the years. Even last year with all the games he missed you can't deny his productivity in the limited snaps he did play.
