Found this on Twitter - a list of edge rushers taken in picks 20-32 in the NFL draft and what they have provided for sack production in year one. DL should be a priority no matter what, but for 2015 even spending a first round pick can't be the only improvement for off the edge pressure.

this is why i am advocating a De in FA,we just cannot expect any production the first year from these late 1st rd picks.

Or we could do both....the answer can't be to sign free agents every year. We need to build talent and depth along the D line. What we have now is borderline pathetic and it's not going to get better unless we invest high draft picks with a couple of free agents thrown in.

Not to mention the fact that you could probably come up with some crazy stat to deter people from drafting any position at any time. The entire draft in general has a high failure rate....is what it is.

I'll keep saying this. Trade a mid round pick for WDE Whitney Mercilus and sign SDE Pernell Mcphee. These are two guys who can get after the QB and won't break the bank cap wise.

The problem there us looking g just at DE. Look we need to go BPA. This team could use a RT, ILB (McClain might be done and I don't want Lee back at middle), CB, Safety, ILB.

I'm all for resigning Carter and Durant and letting Hitchens take over in the middle. McClain getting so much concussions late in the season scares me off from anything long term. He may be the one we should franchise.

No reason to look just at DE at 27. That how you find busts.

Dallas will again this year like they have the last 3 years find vet free agents that can help this team. If the right guy is there when we pick or is close, like the dez trade, then we will get our guy.

Mincey, Spencer and Selvie should all be brought back. Then add a mid level FA DE and Laweence. Don't draft and reach for a position. Draft a player not a position.

ofcourse we can but we have major holes on the D,i would be open for a 3-tech at our spot in the first.

Jerry Hughes is a guy we should look at not over pay. He is coming off 2 good years but plays on a loaded Dline. Bills just hired Rex and are changing to a 34. Doesn't fit him so maybe he will take a Dallas home town discount.

Another one to look at is Brian Orakpo. If we can get him on a Melton like prove it deal then I would be all about it.

If we let Marinelli walk and replace him with Schwartz. He has history and connection with Hughes and Suh. He can get them both to come on.
Hughes, Suh, Crawford, Lawrence

Not so sure on McPhee. I don't think he's as under appreciated among GMs and coaches as he is with fans. I've seen him listed as a top 12 FA. Would be a pretty nice strong-side DE.

But I agree on Mercilus. Another guy who belongs in a 4-3. Hoped we would work a trade as soon as Houston drafted Clowney.

Why would Houston trade Mercilus?

I like McPhee as a 4-3 DE. His is miscast in the 3-4.

I'm thinking the odds of going DT in the 2nd are slim. The top guys will be gone by our pick Shelton, Brown, Goldman, Bennett. So your probably looking at Davis - Iowa or Wright - Auburn.

I think we go RB in the 2nd, as I think Murray walks.
