I personally think we have turned a corner and have an advantage over a majority of the teams in the talent acquisition area of our organization. The pro scouting department has pulled several rabbits out of the hat over the past few years, including RO McClain. It is becoming the norm rather than the exception. We seem to be making sound financial decisions (letting Ware and Hatcher go) and still improving in the process.
As for the draft, I think we will go best player available. We are now better at the draft than a majority of the other teams again. We ignored the talking heads and took Frederick who Jones touted as "The Last Of The Mohicans". Everyone said we over drafted him. It turned out that we were right on him. Everyone said the same thing about Hitchens this year. It turned out that he way over performed his draft status. Most of the talking heads touted him as a reach as well, and possibly even a fringe player that couldn't make a roster. We took Martin who turned out to be an ALL PRO as a rookie which is unheard of instead of forcing the pick and drafting a DL for need. I am more comfortable with our talent acquisition element of our franchise than I have been at any time since the Jimmy Johnson years.
