Bears | Edwards Wary of Chicago - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 9 Feb 2005 09:48:48 -0800

Teddy Greenstein, of the Chicago Tribune, reports the Chicago Bears are in the market for offensive playmakers this offseason and could have Michigan's WR Braylon Edwards available to them at the No. 4 overall selection in the NFL Draft. However, while Edwards has said he would be willing to play for any NFL team, he did express caution in joining the Bears. "In Chicago I would already be in somewhat of a slump," Edwards said, "because a lot of people would view me as (David) Terrell." Terrell, who also hails from Michigan, was Chicago's first-round selection in the 2001 NFL Draft and has been unable to fulfill expectations thus far.

I hope he slides to #11, Nors! Though I can still see Parcells take a DT, DE or LB there regardless. Though I would jump on Edwards if he were there. He'd be part of a solid offfensive future hopefully of Jones, Witten, Henson and Edwards.

I have Edwards a top 5 talent in this draft but I cringe when I read that.

I would actually be surprised if Chicago took Edwards. After Terrell and A-train, I could see them being a little gun shy on Michigan skill players. I know I am.

If Dallas got Edwards in the draft, do you think they should still sign Galloway?

Edwards is fantastic, but he's no Mike Williams. I know he hasn't played for a year but it's not like he just sat around all year and let his skills fall. He was busy all year working on getting better, primarily his speed. If Edwards is taken over Williams it would be the biggest mistake of the draft.
