Effect of Bledsoe play on drafting QB

So we all know how well drew's been, but the question is this: Does drew's arrival and subsequent play make you more or less reluctant to take a chance on a QB in 2006 draft( meaning not just first). I think i would say that it makes me want another young guy on the bench even more. Because i know he is gonna have time to learn on the bench, and not be forced into play immediately. It allows us imo to take some more risks on the qb depth chart and i think we are gonna get rid of either romo or henson before next year for sure.

I still think Henson can develop but would not be opposed to Dallas drafting a top QB next year. I’d rather play it safe than to rely strictly on hope of one young man

Much less urgent issue. I see we take the time to get exactly who want a year or two from now. Brady Quinn?

yes exactly. imo drafting another young guy in no way means Henson is a bust.

This 90s Vikings style of revolving door veteran QBs seems to be the perfect GMing style of the 21st century. It really makes sense, if you pay say 3 million a year, instead of 10, you can use the rest of your money for roster depth. Extra money to throw around at free agents means a better overall team. I say feh, as long as 1st round QBs demand more money than starting veteran qbs don't draft them, let other teams handicap their franchise.

so your question is are we more or less likely to draft a qb, shouldn't your poll options be "more" or "less"?

Yes and No mean Yes we are more likely or Yes we are less likely?

Henson's contract won't hurt the team in the coming years. I believe we stay with Bledsoe for the next year and see how Henson is progressing. If he still doesn't have it, then we look at the draft.

I would not be suprised to see Dallas draft one next year. I do like Henson but not willing to put all my eggs in one basket.

Next year will be Hensons third year in Dallas and I still don't see him being any closer starting, hense, Henson is a bust. We only gave up a third for him so it isn't that big of a bust. I feel to be a bust you have to be taken in the first or second round.

It puts us in a tough situation because we could use our picks at other positions to put us over the top as the best team in the NFL if Drew continous his excellent play and stays healthy, which I believe he will.

However, drafting a qb gives us a year or two to develop him and helps us tremendously in the future.

Looking at each of these factors I'm going will drafting a qb this year if the cards fall right in the draft. At the latest we need to draft a qb buy 07. Doing this could insure our place at the top for years to come with the other youth we have on this team. If we chose not to draft a qb this year we put ourselves at risk of being in the same ugly situation we've been in since Aikman left.

I love Bledsoe...but I want a young qb we can count on for 10 or more years and Henson is not the answer. Bledsoe gives us tremendous flexability with our qb situation and we need to take advantage. We can be great and have a qb waiting in the wings. Bring in a young gun and this looks like a great draft to do it.

I don't like the idea of using first day picks on quarterbacks, much less first round picks on a quarterback, unless you are really sufficiently desperate, or just don't have any other major needs. It has become increasingly important that teams hit on their first day draft picks.

Quarterback is one of the harder positions to project to the pro level. If I were a GM, I would consistently mine the later rounds for quarterbacks. The only reason why we don't see more Kyle Ortons and Tom Bradys is that most teams have too much invested in their first round quarterbacks.

I doubt we draft a QB in the top 3 rounds next year, JJ won't let it happen.

i dont think we worry too much about drafting a QB, we have henson, and Bledsoe is a good mentor(when the guy wants to listen cough cough losman cough)

the future of dallas at qb is BLEDSOE. HE WILL BE THE QB FOR 2005, 2006, 2007,2008,2009.

HE WILL BE 37 IN THE 2009 SEASON . A NICE YEar for him to retire. but thats five more seasons including this one. I wouldnt want to even think about drafting a qb until 2007 . For now just stick with Romo , then cut or trade henson and bring in a cheaper vet . I think the Cowboys Coaching staff realize that henson is a complete bum, i mean he cant even start over an undrafted Qb at a small time College.
