EJ Manuel's meltdown in London begs question: Why did Bills trade Cassel?

Not to excuse Cassel, because a couple of those throws were awful, but the int for a TD was as much his fault as Williams. Such a lazy route.

I am growing tired of Williams.

EJ Manual has more upside in the long run, he probably wont ever be a starting calibur QB but he has the physical skills that Cassel doesnt.

McFadden with 152 today. Rushing not the problem.

As I argued with someone here this morning, they needed to be conservative throwing the ball because turnovers would kill any chance of winning.

Rushing WAS a problem until Dallas decided to give the ball to just ONE back - just like what they did last year.

I was never a fan of the RBBC. Thats the problem right there. If a back is hot and you sub someone in, you get mixed results which we've been having all year.

As you can see the problem was not the Oline. It was Randle - who is not worthy to carry the ball multiple times. We just needed a back who is worthy of carrying the ball multiple times and gets positive yardage. If MacFadden carries the ball for the rest of the year as our featured back so be it. Enough of this RBBC nonsense.

Yes, the OLine was a big part of the problem. They swapped out Leary and his bad groin for Collins and Martin is finally healthy after having a neck injury that caused him to miss the preseason. I think Free's foot might even be getting better. Hanna was also back and he was a big part of the run blocking last year.

Having a QB that the defense knew would throw the ball downfield also help open up the running game. Randle averaged 12 yards per carry before his injury. McFadden did more in his first 6 carries than he has done in his first 6 carries in any previous games. If he did more before he got a lot of touches then getting more touches really wasn't the reason for his success.

I dont know. Add it all up, and were 2-4, and we look exactly like the same ole Cowboys. 8-8.

plus, Romo is another year older...................

Dont mess with the best part of what got you to 12-4. Thats probably not a smart gamble.

Except those 8-8 teams had Romo and Dez and had miserable Oline play and defenses a bit worse than what we have now. That's a lot of differences.

With those guys, there's a real good chance this team is 5-1 or maybe even 6-0 right now.

That seems like it would be the case. But I dont think it is. Even at full strength with Romo and Dez, I think were 3-3. Were an 8-8 kinda team. Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, its probably a duck.

We'll agree to disagree.

I just don't at all see us losing yesterday or vs New Orleans with Dez and Romo.
Probably not Atlanta either.
In fact I think they win at least 2 of those games going away and maybe a 3rd .
The New England game could have still been a loss though...hard so say.

They traded Cassel instead because he has no arm.

Manuel can't do anything intermediate but boy can he throw a long bomb.

yeah I could easily see that happpening.

But I think there are deeper things wrong with this team, beyond missing Romo and Dez......

Its been posted in another thread, and I forgot who said it, but I agree. Something is missing. We have no identity. We arent playing as a Team. And if the team can just , go back to their ways, over a few bad breaks........then.....I dunno.....seems

weak.

i will add. The NFL these days..... one inch there, one injury here, a bounce over there.....and you go from 1-5 to 5-1....:) Catch a good team "down" with injuries and then get a few breaks and all of a sudden your 5-0.

having said that. Overall. When I evauluate the whole thing.

Romo/Dez puts us in first place right now.....but I still dont think were that "tough minded" team we were last year.....

I'm not sure if it's gone for good, but it's missing.
Even in the two wins to open the season, something was off....and not just the run game.
