Elam, Suisham, Gramatica or Buehler?

Do we have any other options? If not who gives us the best chance out of these four? I'm pretty sure we're working the phones to get a couple of these guys in for a workout this week.

No way of knowing who would give you the best chance until you bring them in and work them out. How much faith do you have in 2 kickers recently released for doing a poor job? I hope Dallas can bring in some kickers including the ones you mentioned but it is a wild guess of how any of them would do

Do not want the first 3 but I would like to know if Buehler is any good. I have never seen him kick field goals so I have no idea what he can do.

As for Suisham. The guy just missed a 27 yard field goal 2 weeks ago and lost the game so I do not want more of the same.

+1 why bring in guys who were cut from other teams because they missed FGs? You already have that in Nick Folk so it's a wash. We need to be looking at CFL guys or other leagues...

I think Suisham would be the best guy. He was released b/c he cost the Skins the chance to tarnish the unbeaten Saints.

When was the last time Gramatica even kicked in the NFL?

I'd like to see what Buehler has also, if not him maybe Elam? He was a very accurate kicker for a long time before last year.

He cost them more than just that game, He cost them the game against us to!! He is just as bad as folk if not worse.

Buehler must be horrible if they let Folk kick after those warm-up kicks Sat. night.

For everyone that keeps asking for Buehler to kick FG's, don't you think this idea has already occured to the staff?

If he were any good at it, we would have seen him kicking last night.

I think the problem with Buehler is that in practices all he does is kickoffs and hasn't spent much time on FGs. Besides do you want to rely on a rookie kicker in a clutch situation to kick a 50-40 yarder? IMO why not...he's already the KOS and I think he kicked FGs at USC as well.

I agre: no Suisham: been there done that: he's finished. Elam? maybe he's a vet that use to be money in crunch time. Buehler? Rookie who hasn't kicked field goals since college: no way on EARTH he will get a shot, nor should he. I list the top 4 as: 1) Elam 2) Gramatica 3) Mike Nugent 4) Nick Novak.

*Serious question: how do they work kicker tryouts? Live scrimmage with players flying at them, kicking on their own, a combo of both?

I don't think Buehler is a legit option right now. From what I've read/heard, he can't hit a bull in the *** with a bass fiddle.

Some of it is just one on one with the coach with the kicker going out and attempting a series of kicks

More you see around NFL, its been a bad season for Kickers. Crosby seems like might get cut too. Just now Vikings Kicker doinked it. Only clutch kickers now in NFL might be Chargers Kicker and Tennesse Kicker, at least from what I have seen.

Suisham was at 85% I believe, missing 1 from 20-29, 1 from 40-49 and 1 from 50+.

72% in 08 and 82% in 07 and 88% in 06.

He is also only 27.

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe the surgery Nick Folk had (torn labrum) in the offseason is the cause of his troubles? Maybe he rushed the rehab and now it could affecting him as a result? I would think the Cowboys would at least place him on IR and give him another shot next year in TC.

Surely there was a young (rookie?) kicker or two that didn't quite make a team in training camp.

Suisham note:

Although Suisham missed a chip-shot field goal late in the fourth quarter of the 33-30 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints two weeks ago and two field goals -- including a 39-yarder -- in the 7-6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 22, he converted 18 of 21 field-goal attempts this season and is the most accurate place kicker in team history among those with at least 100 career field-goal attempts. He also had performed well in executing the designed kickoffs special teams coordinator Danny Smith called.
