Did you see his PC? He just looks like he's annoyed he has to play ball & was inconvenienced by losing & being asked all these questions. I don't like Peyton, but you know Peyton would be taking a loss like that hard. Eli just looks like he expects to be handed his $$$$, & why are people bothering him by expecting him to play.

PFT had an interesting comment a couple of weeks ago that seems more accurate every week. Eli acts like someone who's playing not because he wants to play but because it's expected of him that he'll play. I keep comparing the joy of Romo (or Delhomme or Favre, even after all these years) to how Eli has acted--even when the Gints were winning--& that comment rings true. He acts like he's bored with the whole thing.

Which is strange because he seemed to show some fire at Ole' Miss.

Maybe he's just tired of being on a sorry arse team?

He chose the team himself.

And whose fault is that? He forced his way onto that team.

He's so incredibly petulant.

I always thought Cooper was the loser in that family. Coop, I apologize.

I agree. That's karma for you.

And it's great for us cowboys fans.

Manning and his daddy force the chargers to trade him to the Gnats. The Chargers end up being a contender (and as I said before that draft, Rivers ends up the better QB) and the Gnats are falling apart. It's great.

Careful what you ask for, Eli. :D

Perhaps the worst thing that ever happened to Eli was playing in NY. He might have done better where the fans and media scruitiny was not so high charged and where he might have been given time to develop, but of course high draft QB picks don't often get time to sit and learn. They are lucky if they get a chance to wait until the end of the year whereas maybe late 2nd year would be better for them.

As for his lack of emotion, can't help thinking having to constantly compete against his older brother and be found wanting has to effect his personality. Like I said, he'd be better off in a smaller market and away from thie super charged NY area.

I hate to admit it, but I agree with PFT. I think he was having fun at Ole Miss (& there wasn't a lot of pressure on him), but I really really wonder whether being in the NFL was his idea. Daddy pretty much stage-managed (with Tagliabue's help) him coming to New York, & with a last name of Manning he didn't have much choice about his career to begin with. If his last name had been anything other than Manning, would he really be playing pro ball, or would he be a working stiff who had fun in college, has happy memories, but is pursuing other interests now. Geez, if Daddy had left well-enough alone, he'd be with a pretty decent team in San Diego with fans overjoyed at their good fortune to have a Manning on their team & willing to forgive the occasional booboo. (He'd also have had the luxury of studying under Drew Brees.)

That last pick. Man was that not reminiscent of us and Seattle last year?
Man did I have a flashback.
I won't go into him picking the Giants because he didn't. He just didn't want to be in San Deigo where they had QB's growing on trees. None of which Eli could beat out. The Giants needed a QB and they worked a deal with SD.

In defense of Cooper--there was an SI article about him a couple of years ago. He has MS (I think), or something like that--anyway, a physical disability that left him unable to continue with football. Far from being a loser, he's gone on to overcome the incredible disappointment of not being able to play the football he loved, is coping with his disability, & has created a successful life for himself as a businessman with a beautiful wife & kids.

Huh? All they had was Brees. That's it. And up to that point, Brees had been a disappointment.

Eli didnt want to come to NFL? Easy to say that now that he is getting his lumps.

Chargers werent that good when Eli was drafted and Marty ball wasnt working... they had a 4-12 season in there and QB's were getting hammered over there...

The Mannings are a powerhouse famliy $$$$$$$ - no excuses... there is no crying in football...

If it will make Eli feel better the Giants can miss the playoffs and he can sit at home

According to reports at the time, Archie didn't want his son playing for a "bad" team & repeating his experiences in NO. Tagliabue was equally determined to get a "name" player on a big market team like the Giants--he's apparently never been really happy that Peyton is "only" playing in Indy. So here Tags had a chance to maneuver Eli into a huge tv market, & news reports did say that Tags had talked to Archie prior to the draft to put a bug in his ear to do what he did (in encouraging Eli to refuse to play for SDO).

I dislike Eli alot, but was Eli the one who demanded the trade or was it his dad?

either way, it's a negative for Eli.

1. If it was him, he looks like a whiny little brat, and a moron.

2. If it was his dad, he looks like a whiny little brat, and a baby.

It's his career, whether he made the decision or he let his dad make the decision, it should still be him that gets criticized for it.

Nope. They had Rivers sitting and Feeley as well. Brees chose the year before to "get it" and fog the starting QB position even more.

Sorry guys I just watched the interview and I disagree with the assessment.

He was asked 6 questions in a row about that last pass and then after he said it was a bad throw and on him they continued on.

He had pretty much covered what the play was, what he did wrong, what he should have done etc and then they pop in with some question that went along the lines of what were you thinking.

The guy made a mistake. He knew it and they were hammering him for it and he did not like it.

How this can be construed into an overall psych eval of him and his family is a bit off base.

Dude... they traded FOR Rivers that year. Rivers was part of the Eli trade.

And Feeley? Feeley sucks.

Rivers and Eli, drafted the same year.
