Bet Phillips will use Spencer just like he did Merriman; his job will be to go after the QB & not worry about anything else this year. Carpenter probably plays 1st & 2nd downs & we see how healthy Ellis is when TC goes around. I bet Phillips will use Ellis in variety of position including DE on either side.

It's already been reported that Carpenter will move inside. There's no guarantee that Ellis will be ok. If he is, then I guess we'll have another season where our first pick shares PT with Ellis, and can't crack the LU.

Don't get me wrong....I like Spencer....but I hate trading three picks for him.

We need youth at WR, OL, CB, DT, and we still need a starter at FS. How are we gonna get that?

keep carpenter i still think he can be a stud lb, and i guess they dont think ellis can comeback from the injury so they might cut him.

Ellis wont' be near 100% as a pass rusher this year. And he's in his 30s so he won't be around much longer after the next year anyway. We need more then 2 or 3 pass rushers. Injuries can happen. This was our biggest need. And we filled it. I love this pick. Maybe we gave up a little too much but it's not like we are a long ways away from being a good team.
