What do the Dallas Cowboys need to do to get over the 8-8 hump?
According to former Cowboys’ running back Emmitt Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, the answer is simple-- run the football.
“Hell, you have to have the balance,” Smith said. "The Cowboys are so pass-happy right now that they’re not even giving themselves a chance to be balanced. The game is won in the trenches. You build a team inside out, not outside in."
“I thought the pick was wonderful. I thought the Cowboys did a great job of upgrading this offensive line,” Smith said. “I think they did (make the right decision to pass on Johnny Manziel. They are committed to Tony Romo.
“Although most people want to pass on Tony Romo right now, I think we can do more things to help Romo become a successful quarterback, and that starts with play selection and also running the football.”
