Had an early call today and was driving on a parking lot known as I-30 in the Dallas area. Listened to Emmitt on 105.3. He spoke about Murray.
First let me say this. When Emmitt pronounces his name it sounds like Mary - sort of. He has this random U in there somewhere which subverts it, but it does not sound like Murray.
So this is what he said.
The team is playing the type of football they should have been last year. They commit to the run, and even last year their line was good enough to feature Murray, but they hesitated on this.
He chalks this up to Romo's back issue and seeing the field and not being big game ready at the beginning of the season.. So they were protecting Romo and discovered something they should have seen.
He feels Murray can handle whatever it takes, and the team needs to ride that horse.
Emmitt said there are a bunch of people worrying about Murray's health. People on the team. People in the press. Fans. He stated none of them had a clue.
When asked if it bothered him that Murray could be approaching some of Emmitt's records - specifically the 1700+ season record, Emmitt said he was please and proud.
When the D-bag host asked him if he wanted to protect his records, Emmitt said, How, I don't play the sport anymore.
At the end, when the host started in the shtick that all sports talk radio gets into, the guy reminded he was talking with the greatest Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith, who now is a rap artist.
Emmitt immediately said, "Don't trip."
