do you think Goodell would stop fining the players if all the fans united and signed a petition to allow the players to celebrate with being fined?

it sucks that we dont get to see the creativity of these guys cause Goodell is such a dictator. I am so ticked that Welker got fined for the snow angel, TO got fined for what he did against Cleveland, etc.

These celebrations hurt no one, and they entertain the crowd, which is the overall goal of the league. I think the Lambeau Leap is dangerous. Those guys hurl their bodies into the crowd and could potentially injure a fan. Yet the league does not fine the Packers when they do it.

i just wish there was a way we, as fans, could unite our voices and try to fix certain issues that we feel need to be fixed with the league....

of course I see one problem with my stance. There are many people who feel there should be no end zone celebrations....so the voice of the fans would be split.

Why? It wasn't the fact that it was a snow angel, it's the fact that he went to the ground. Players should know that rule considering it's been flagged a handful of times this season.

I was really surprised Welker got flagged, but also very happy.

It pissed me off when T.O. got flagged in week 2 after going to a sprinter's stance to imitate Usain Bolt. Now I'm not so mad. We all want the league to show consistency, right? It may be a stupid rule, but at least they're flagging multiple people for it, not just waiting for someone like T.O.

My final answer would be to just abolish the rule completely, but as long as it exists, they should call it.

If he wouldn't have been fined, there would have been a ton of posters claiming some bias of some sort.

Celebrations, for the most part, are an embarrassing display of a lack of creativity, style, and dignity.

I've seen better entertainment at a 3rd grade school play.

Another "Cowboy Rule"... only thing it was created before he became a Cowboy.

Terrell Owens and the "sharpie" incident = new rule for excessive celebration
Followed by "cell phone" - Joe Horn??
Chad Johnson then did something... I dont recall what it was..?

Let them celebrate all they like.

New rule: The play clock is set to 25 seconds for extra point attempts.

Its really amazing that they let that one go.

It cannot be justified according to the rules.

They should have a celebrations playclock. As soon as you cross goal line or catch TD... you get 10 seconds. Penalty after that... 5 yards for every second thereafter.

I don't watch the games for the celebrations, and don't personally care for them at all. If a player scores and spontaneously does something to celebrate, that's one thing, but I could do without all of this contrived, choreographed, premeditated crap. JMHO.

I would allow guys to do team celebrations, fun bunch, dirty bird, etc.

I'd get rid of individual celebrations.

i think they call it a "spontaneous show of emotion". even though we all know it isn't spontaneous since it happens every time and only in greenbay.

I wouldn't put the snow angel call on the Cowboys. The incidents you mentioned have to do with "props" which is another part of the rule.

Sadly, this rule has to be in place, and you can Blame Randy Moss (his mooning), Chad Johnson and the overall one-upsmanship that was building.

On the surface, NFL football is supposed to be family friendly and the use of the football as a prop and 'going to the ground' during celebrations was INEVITABLY leading to one thing.

This vague and wide ranging rule was put in place to stop one end zone celebration before it could happen. It was only an matter of time before some misguided WR decided that xxx-ing a football in the end zone would get him huge coverage on ESPN.

Try doing that without a prop or without going to the ground. I have no doubt that the rules were put in place to prevent that exact celebration, without the NFL having to having to announce that to the world.

Some fun spontaneous celebrations get caught in the crossfire, but that's life.
