Equanimeous St. Brown

Sammy Watkins liked him a lot:

“That’s the one guy I don’t want to leave. If he leaves, I don’t how my mindset would be, honestly. That’s a guy that kind of groomed me into running routes and doing everything the right way. Mentality, both mental and physical. If he leaves, that will hurt. Because that’s the guy that kind of helped this whole group form a mentality and shape us into professionals. He gave us the whole script, off the field, on the field. I think it’s helping this wide receiver group and helping the players. If he leaves, that will hurt.”

And Ty Hilton:
“The first day I met him, he told me everything I needed to work on and what he had seen,” Hilton said. “That just showed me right there that he understands the game. He had already broken down my film before I even met him. I just love what he’s doing.”

The reality is, the NFL is full of really good coaches. There are more really good coaches out there than there are jobs, so you should pretty much expect an NFL team to attract top candidates. The trick is getting them to all work well together and then, really, it's in getting them good players.

Bringing in Lal, was probably something they did to help out Dez. At least that's what I take from the route precision talk, coupled with Jerry pretty much saying this week he's going to make it work with Dez.

“I liken route running to being a professional dancer,” Lal said. “They spend hours and hours and hours practicing their footwork. If they’re on Broadway, someone’s paid $500 to come watch them. They expect perfection. It’s no different for us. We’re at the highest stage on Sunday. So, if I have to get from here to there, my footwork better be perfect. And I can’t be thinking about it on game day. That performer on Broadway goes from A to B and hits his mark, sings what he has to sing, without even thinking. And that’s like us. We have to go A to B with perfection and the ball is going to be there for us. No detail in route running is too small.”

Be like that other ND WR can’t remember his name that went to the Texans because of his blazing 40 time... kid couldn’t catch a cold in college and still has those struggles in the pros

Fuller’s issues in the pros aren’t his hands. He’s had injury issues.

For the few games he and Watson played together last year, he was dynamic.

Kid had an interesting story. Basically he was "designed" to be a great athlete by his dad. He is also very smart and knows multiple languages. Check out his story on HBO
That’s what worries me about him. Parents over involved basically creating a player. I start to wonder if the kid will really love the sport or just doing it to make parents happy. I also think if they were pushed so hard from an early age will they burn out fast. The Jones create enough of a circus don’t need the parent mess like the Lakers have. I’d have to sit down get to know the kid and be really comfortable before pulling a trigger on him.

That was my thoughts too. His dad has been micromanaging him his entire life, he's not just going to cut him loose now.

Definitely a guy you would have to sit down and interview before you could give the green light.

St. Brown has grown on me. He’s a very fluid athlete for his 6’-5” frame plus with Dak’s erratic accuracy you need a guy with a large catch radius. I still think he’s in that no man’s land for us between the 2nd-3rd round and I don’t like his chances of being there for us.

Father didn’t push them to football. He wanted then to pick their own paths.

The kid had no issues in college either.

yeah. dad's certainly an interesting guy, but doesn't seem problematic or overbearing at all. just happened to purposely breed superhumans lol

It's an odd story for sure. But if you watch the HBO series, I believe the father admits he would have let his kids play whatever sports they wanted, he just wanted them to be really successful at it.

People make comparisons to the Balls or even Todd Marinovich. The fathers are really nothing alike. Ball's dad wants to be the center of attention and used his kids to that end. St. Brown's dad certainly bred and pushed them to be great and is even trying to make a little money off of it, but he's far from trying to become the center of attention Lavar Ball is trying to be.

And Marinovich was a head case in college and later admitted to drug use in college. St. Brown has had none of those issues.

right. parents just pushed for greatness. in sports and academics. but not in a joe jackson kind of way, just a "this is what it takes to be great"

I'd love for St. Brown to be here in Dallas but as someone noted, he might fall in that range between our 2nd and 3rd round pick.

i honestly won't be surprised if he goes any where from the first to the fourth. won't lose any sleep over not getting him either, but think it would be a nice addition.

St. Brown looked good but seeing him in the 2nd or 3rd round even with the combine. Tape is still the best evaluation and any scout will tell you that the combine helps with the evaluation especially the medical but the tape of play is still the determining factor not the combine. St. Brown is still very raw and partly to the poor QB play at Notre Dame but he would be a big reach in the first 50+ picks.

Don't let ESB large frame lead you to believe he has a large catch radius.

Have yet to see him go up to make a catch. He plays much smaller than he is.

Was unaware of his Dad being such a mircomanager. That might be a contributing factor to ESB not having that killer instinct and being more passive in his game play.

......may be raw in some of his abilities, but I LOVE his playing speed. The kid has some jets. Looks as fast on the field as Chark. A team with a real WR coach will get him to reach his amazing potential.
I'm a fan of drafting Brown.

I'm not a fan of drafting Chark.

True enough about him.

Note, that unlike the Lavar Ball did at UCLA, St. Brown's dad didn't really push his way into the Notre Dame program.

So if people are thinking St. Brown's dad is going to be the leech hanging around Cowboys training camp and being a general pain in the butt like Lavar Ball, he didn't show that at ND.
