There was a time where he was the most intimidating, dominant tackle in the entire league. I can remember hearing Madden gushing over his play. He was downright scary and used to actually pound on he guy across from him play after play. Too bad he never truly returned to form after his car accident. Would have been one of the all-time greats IMO.

Erik Williams was so good. He was legitimately HOF great.

When you look at what happened after Jimmy left, never has an organization done less with more. I do not believe we'll ever see another NFL roster with the number of offensive greats the Cowboys had in those days. They had so many players who were legitimately considered the best or among the best at their position. Aikman, Irvin, Novacek, Smith, Williams, Stepnoski, Johnston..... I thought they'd win 5 super bowls or more.

Now, we are looking back on the dynasty years and discovering that if not for Jerry's mismanagement they could have been something even greater--like historic, never again matched great.

I don't think he can be duplicated. They don't make them like that generation anymore.

When discussing the all-time greats Erik Williams was one of the best, even if it was for a short period of time. Reggie White was arguably the greatest pass rusher of all-time. He used to get triple teamed...nobody gets triple teamed. Now take a guess what team never triple teamed him? Take a guess what guy used to take him one on one, and not just block him but he kinda dominated him?

What year was that?

I thought it happened in the 92 or 93 season, but he was wearing that arm brace that he wore after the car wreck.

NFC championship, in Dallas. Had to be the second Super Bowl season, 93-94 season. I don't think that's the arm brace, because I vaguely remember Erik wearing an arm pad when he normally played but I could be wrong.

The best is during those games, after the game was won, they would pan to Erik Williams and he's be blowing snot and sweat out his nose. Madden was just gushing over him having them play it in slow motion.

That one game EW almost had him in tears. He dominated him so bad with that head slap and blocking White was pleading with the refs.
