True, but if fired, he'll just be another one. He's a problem, but he's still not the main underlying cause. I know it sounds simplistic, but Jerry is the biggest problem, and until that is solved, wishing for a coach that can overcome it, I feel, is futile.

If parcells was 10 years younger, i think he could have done something special with the roster he assembled.

It really doesn't matter. Jerry as GM = Failure. No matter the head coach

I don´t think so, it might seem that way and of course it has mostly been that way but we did good with Jimmy and we did kind of good with Parcells, he retired two years too early, I think we could’ve done much more if he had stayed a couple of years more.

Jerry ran both of them out of town.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised either way, and Garrett's fate may very well lie in these last 2 games. At the same time, if Jerry can convince himself to keep Garrett for one more year, he will. He desperately wants him to be successful. I will say this: I do believe if Garrett comes back next year it will definitely be a do or die season for him.

I think Kiffin will step down after this season and Marinelli will be our DC next year, which I don't have a problem with as long as we invest our resources in personnel for him. The offense is much closer to where it needs to be than the defense is right now.

How these last 2 games play out, and how those results affect the offseason is going to be interesting to say the least.

Yeah, perhaps. Although it was becoming clear with the TO signing that Jerry was having trouble taking a back seat. I doubt we could get anybody like that again.

lol JG isnt going anywhere.

I'm not so sure after last Sunday's debacle. Thin ice. Lose against Washington and I think no matter what happens in Philly -- turn out the lights. 8-8 or worse pretty much will seal Garrett's fate IMHO.

Regardless, it's going to be yet another wild offseason. Don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of these rollercoaster ride offseasons. I would love to be a consistent, winning team that is fairlly quiet about it's business during the offseason because we know what holes need filled and what needs tweeked here and there. Please, no more massive overhauls.

Garrett will be back. Jerry already confirmed it.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not? I don't put much stock into what Jerry has said or will say before the season is over. I will say this if we lose both or beat Washington and lose to Philly and Garrett is back next season I'm going to be livid!

Im probably going to get slammed by many members here for even posting these stats but I found them interesting. Look at some of the greats and how they started their HC careers.

Bill Walsh
1979-1982
24-33

Tom Landry
1960-1964
18-46

Bill Belichick
1991-1993
20-28

Jimmy Johnson
1989-1991
19-29

Jason Garrett
2010-2013
28-26

Not from me. The whole time I was typing that last post I couldn't help but think about Landry's and Johnson's early years as HC for the Cowboys. We'll see if JJ has the patience.

Jerry ran both of them out of town.

Jimmy won two SB and Parcells wasn´t run out of town, if I remember correctly Jerry wanted him to stay for another year but Parcells had had it with Football, I don’t think his problem was with Jerry.

By the way I am not in any way shape or form defending Jerry, but I do think that if he fires Garrett we´ll see a HC more of the likes of those two, in terms of how good they were and more of a hands on approach with an attitude that I think will bring more success to the franchise.

I'm not going to slam you but Landry coached an expansion team, and Jimmy's first season in 1989 went 1-15 with a rookie Aikman. It's kinda hard to compare the above guys to Garrett. Plus Jimmy was a winner at Miami University and Belichick was already in coaching for 16 years and was a Super Bowl winning assistant. Those guys you knew would eventually get it because of their previous success but what has Garrett done?! Just because those that you listed struggled initially but became successful doesn't mean that Garrett will do the same.

yeah. Thats pretty much what I was waiting for.
Those guys started off much more poorly than JG but they have valid excuses so its OK.
Of those guys listed only one has a winning record after 3 years...
Is it likely that JG will be one of the greatest coaches that ever lived? No, probably not. He did take a team that was 1-7 and establish a winning record but lets can him because he hasnt made a deep playoff run after taking control of a one win team that quit on the previous coach.

Ok so what makes Garrett so special in your eyes? You were the one to compare his first few years to some of the best coaches ever so enlighten me please.....

Typical. Where exactly did I say he was special? If fact I think I mentioned that it is unlikely that he (or anyone) can reach the status of some of those greats that I mentioned. What I did point out was stats and how those ranked as the greatest ever had miserable starts to their HC careers, far worse than JG who actually has a record (slightly) over 500. Thankfully there were guys that didnt think like yourself in charge and saw fit to stay with them and see what played out and it turned out to be a good idea.
That all being said, at this point there is no way to know if JG will ever prove to be worth a damn.
