OXNARD, Calif. -- Andy Jones can't wait for Friday's game against the Miami Dolphins. He's been looking forward to it moments after the Dallas Cowboys' preseason opener Aug. 13 against the Los Angeles Rams ended.

Dez Bryant.

"Just to see a leader come to me, pull me aside, it's definitely helped me with my confidence and tells me I know how to play this game just like everybody else," Jones said,

Jones joined the Cowboys from non-scholarship Jacksonville after the draft. He made a positive impression in the spring and when the pads came on in training. He's not quite sure what led to the drops.

"Just trying to get used to the atmosphere, I guess," Jones said. "It's a little different for me but there's no excuse for it. I've been catching balls all my life. I've been catching everything out here, so I definitely need to do what Dez told me: it's just like practice."

If we keep 6 he's already made the team. Who are they going to keep instead? Street? Problem is I can't see us keeping more than 5 and he isn't displacing Lucky or Brice

Doubt they keep 6. I believe the logic is Escobar can line up in the slot.

What is the ST'S depth chart? That's where you will know who makes it.

Funny all that hype in training camp...and Street was the one who had a better first pre season game. Hope he steps up, but doubt he makes the team unless they roll deep at receiver.

He definitely needs to show during the games what they've been talking about during practice.

But I think he can make this team and I can actually see them going with 6 at receiver.

Hanna is likely going to PUP to start the season, so I now anticipate only 3 TE's being kept. Gaithers is too far away.

Dunbar and McFadden are still on PUP and NFI, and there's no reason to rush them out there at this point. Either or both can stay there as an insurance policy for another injury.

And neither of the fullbacks have shown that they're worthy of a roster spot based on their performances. If someone else isn't brought in, I wouldn't keep one at all.

So I can see the team keeping Jones if he gives them a reason to.

I can also if one of those WR's prove worth of a roster spot. Especially with the PUP guys we have.

I'm interested in your opinion on this.

Given the Hanna injury and the fullbacks not impressing, what do you think of bringing in former Texan and Eagle James Casey for a look? He's a Swiss Army Knife type player who might have fill several needs.

I know who you are talking about but that is about it. I can easily see the Cowboys bringing someone in. Especially at FB. One of those PUP RB's isn't making it back on the 53 either FWIW.

Especially since we've got two WRs available in FA after the season. If they think he can play, they could stash him for a season.

When Tony and Dez both take an active interest in you, you know you're doing something right in camp. I think he makes the roster if he can convert his play in practice into the games, which he'll probably do. He got a bit overamped last week, but that's not necessarily something he won't overcome once he settles down and gets back to playing football.

He's a versatile player that can play TE, H-back, and fullback. And he's a good special teams player to boot. To me, he makes a lot of sense, much more than Rod Smith, who looks like a dog chasing cars out there.

With Hanna most likely staying on PUP for the first 6 weeks of the season. I can't seeing them keeping 4 TE's. As Traylor or Gathers won't be better for the team as a 6th WR or a 4th RB.
Which means they keep a FB, and either Jones / Street or Jackson / McFadden makes it. Or they could keep an extra OL or defensive player too.
