ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – In a team meeting Thursday morning, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak started to list some of what is on DeMarcus Ware’s football resume.

Things like 130.5 career sacks – 13th all time – eight Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All Pro selections and a selection on the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000s.

But nowhere to be found in all of that was either an AFC or NFC Defensive Player of the Month honor, not even in a 20-sack season in 2008 with the Dallas Cowboys or a 15.5-sack season in 2010 or a 19.5-sack season in 2011. Ware was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Month for September on Thursday with his 3.5 sacks in the Broncos’ three wins – he’s the only player in the league with a sack in each of the first three games of the season.

Yeah we sure couldn't have used him last year or this year. Good thing we got rid of the guy who couldn't play anymore.

Geez.

Someone seems bitter :)

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said the fact Ware had never won the monthly award was worthy of a double take.

“He’s an amazing guy. I’ve been lucky to coach him twice now," Phillips said. “I don’t know what’s wrong with the Dallas [Cowboys] PR or whatever, he had 20 sacks, he tied Simon Fletcher’s record for 10 straight games with sacks when [he was] in Dallas, so how he wasn’t defensive player of the month amazes me, but that’s Jerry Jones’ problem. [So] it did surprise me … You just look at the numbers now, Von Miller’s a great player and he’s got 50 sacks. DeMarcus has got 130."

I am so glad that bag of feathers is no longer the head coach.

Jerruh jones never cared to puff anyone else up except himself. The Dallas PR people know which side of their bread the butter is on.
But it is typical that Ware never got the awards he deserved. For those that keep claiming there is no Anti Boys agenda out there Demarcus Ware is example A. Tony Romo is example B. To be blunt you can even say LA is an example- as completely a monster as he was from 1998 through 2001 he never got the props for that. During that time period he was flat out the best O lineman in the NFL. There were players ASKING to be put on the injury report before playing him so that they would have an excuse for looking so bad. Show me any other player where that happened.

Do people still even debate this? We over reacted and should not have released him last year and it still shows this year.

Still the right move to release him, and he's still a player in decline. I'm pretty sure he was unblocked on two of those sacks.

Besides, Ware in September has never been a problem. It's Ware in November and December who disappears, as he did last year.

and in the offseason the Broncos changed to the 3-4 and Ware is tearing it up again. You look at any pass rusher who does not get some rest and they fade in the later part of the season. We never did and the Bronco's did the same thing last year. Hopefully they have figured it out by now. His years here he continually was at the very top of the list as regards plays each season. If you look hard at other top pass rushers you will see a difference. Our coaches were just too stubborn to rest him.

First, I love Ware. If we don't win it all, I want Denver to.

But he won't keep up this pace. Just like he didn't last year.

We let him go at the right time. I feel like people are forgetting his chronic injury issues coupled with his large cap figure.

I am willing to bet this year that the coaches will give him more rest. Already his number of plays is less then last years. So for that reason I can see him keeping it up.

i don't think the coaches were stubborn. They didn't have much of a choice. There wasn't a lot of quality depth.

He was declining. I remember games where they trotted out some back up LT and ware would make him look all pro.
