Stepehn Bowen is a very strong possibility as well. Tenn needs help at DE and Im not sure that Bowen wouldn't start opposite of Vanden Bosch. If not hed be in the rotation for sure.

Yes, this is true. But our LB corps is becoming like our CB group last year. One injury and we're a bit shallow in the middle. Can Burnett fill in every down? Can Carp step foot on the field?

I'm fine with Akin for Pacman (since Pacman adds more depth than Akin currently provides), so long as we don't get thin elsewhere.

Oh, Justin Rogers is still on the team. Maybe he shouldn't be forgotten.

:)

were in the same boat we were last year. We would just replace Akin with Thomas and i would hope that between burnett and carp we could cover an injury.

I could be wrong but I don't think its Akin. If Zach gets another concussion and Burnett gets hurt again (very probable) then who do we have? Carpenter maybe...but I don't think the coaching staff is too comfortable with him. I don't think Akin has missed any games due to injury yet so he is dependable in that aspect. I think its Terry Glenn.

If Carpenter is such a liability that he can't be counted on as the 3rd string Inside Linebacker, then he shouldn't be on the roster - despite the cost.

I don't believe that's the case.

Actually, I'm getting kinda pissed at the Titans right now. If we offered them a bag of chips for Pacman, they should be jumping at it. Now it seems as even though they aren't going to keep him, they want more for him. "Oh, he is a first round player, we should get some serious compensation for him." Ummm, yea, and we should just give you our draft for a guy who is a lap dance away from being suspended for the league permanently. Just take the trade and move on, and be happy that you get something in return, especially a player.

I didn't want him at all but after reading the support from a lot of posters here and thinking of the Cowboys' program to help troubled players I started warming up to the idea. In fact I got a slight twinge of excitement until his interviews and comments of the last 2 or 3 days. Now I'm turned off again. I really don't see anything or hear anything that makes me think he has changed or will change. He thinks he is worth a 1st round pick to the Titans and seems to have changed his position on what his contract should be, etc. A little humility or sincere regret for his past behavior would help in my opinion. If he is already changing from his earlier remarks about those items (contract, etc.) then what will he be like once we trade for him.

I'm afraid JJ is going to become impatient and overpay for him. I wish JJ would walk and concentrate on the draft and leave Pac to others to worry about. He has already caused more time consuming debates and efforts by the Cowboys' brass than a person in his position is worth IMNOHO.

Too many people equate his situation with TO's situation. I don't think they are in the same ball park at all. TO's main problem was his supersized ego. Pac's is far more serious IMO.

We have a top notch team and with a good draft we have a realistic shot at the SB without the distractions and problems. Draft players who don't need babysitters. He will immediately change the dynamics of the lockerroom. I think he will be TOO high maintenance for us.

There was some discussion on ESPN's The Huddle yesterday where someone talking to Clayton felt that our NFC East rivals should get involved and not let Jones be obtained for a "mere" late round pick.

Coverage on the Sirius NFL Radio yesterday was sympathetic to the Titans. A few of the hosts there felt that permitting Jones to go to the Cowboys was, in effect, a reward for bad behavior. Those folks felt that the Titans should receive some kind of escalated reward based upon Jones' performance for the Cowboys.

One thing is certain, Jerry has a way of keeping many eyes on the Cowboys....even during March Madness.

Screw them.

Man, I am afraid some other team is going to jump into the pacman mix

I'm not. He wants to play for us and we want him. Fisher can't afford to play hardball for too long. What were offering is probably the best he's going to do.

Why??? He's their player. They have to look at it in a risk/reward type of framework too. There's a chance he doesn't get reinstated and a chance that even if he does, he just screws up again. Then again, if he had learned his lesson, he can contribute A LOT on many levels and if you were the Titans, would you just let that slip away for a pair of marginal players, none of whom will ever be able to contribute at Pacman's level and aren't even a very good shot at making the roster anyways. So, they need to get enough compensation to make them want to give up the opportunity that Pacman will keep his act straight. Anything the cowboys give isn't just charity, so no need to frame it like that.

The Titans are doing exactly what they should be doing. They are trying to get the best deal they can get out of a trade. That's exactly what the Cowboys would be doing if we were in their shoes.

I also think that the Titans realize that they can only expect so much out of a trade. In the end, I think it will be a 4th round pick or a 5th round pick and a player that the Titans can use and the Cowboys can do without.

I really wouldn't call that serious compensation.

If I was Jerry, I would tell Fisher enough of this "he has too much value because he was the 6th overall pick" crap. Fisher flat out said that Pac wont be on the roster this year, that means he will be releaed if nobody trades for him.

I dont see anybody else offering what we are offering and Fisher is just sitting there with his thumb up his arse whinning about not getting value for Pac. If he has so much dam value, why are the other 31 teams offering jack?

I tell Fisher he can have a 7th and a backup or he can take a 5th. Thats it, no more negotiating, no more disscussion, take it or leave it, and the offer is good for 48 hrs. After the time is up, I give Fisher a big "F-YOU" and walk away.

My .02:)

You're forgetting they've already clearly said that he's not welcome back on their team, under any circumstances... so they've dinged their own negotiating leverage, and reduced his market value...

And if they do try to ask for much of anything, Jerry should walk away... Jones is only worth the gamble if the price is cheap...

Problem with that scenario is that Pac wants to play for Dallas and I imagine that he would refuse to rework his contract for another team. Thus, in effect, he has veto power over a trade because no team would trade for his contract, straight up. They are going to want a behavioral clause, incentive clause over roster bounuses, ect.....

Fisher must be a poker player, because he is bluffing here. He alreay f-uped and said the team has moved on and Pac wont be on the field for the Titans this year. Kinda a dumb thing to say about somebody you are trying to trade.

I call Fisher's bluff and tell him our offer is good for 48 hrs, after that he can go F-himself and we are walking. We dont have to have Pac, we can get a 1st round CB and still be sitting pretty.

It's not costing us a darn thing to wait them out. No one else is offering anything. If this were the week of the draft, then yes, deal or no deal time, but we are still a month away and besides, there is absolutely nothing out there for CBs. I'm getting anxious myself, but Jerry ain't no fool. No point in being rash.

That's the part that annoys me.

Some Titan official was quoted about reminding everyone that this guy was a No. 6 overall pick and that we can't just give him away.

:violin:

First, good job reminding everyone about your draft-day blunder.

Second, why should someone else have to help pay for your mistake?

Admit you screwed up, get what you can and move on.
