it wasn't?

No, Hamlin didn't bite on the play fake, he just had to cover Shockey. Henry messed up the coverage and wound up trailing Burress with no deep help.

Did we get burned by biting on a single play-action fake all season?

It's the only highlight he saw, he doesn't watch the actual games.

What about Clayton's Romo comment? Any opinions on that? Is it now the conventional wisdom that the Mexican vacation cost Dallas the playoff game? I think it was way overblown by the media.

I agree. It had nothing to do with anything. When Romo took those couple of days off we had no ideal who we were going to play.

I don't think the Mexican vacation had anything to do with them losing, but that is the perception. People, including the media, see the karaoke and the vacation, the beauty pageant judging, and they form negative opinions. He needs to take a lower profile and concentrate on what it takes to win a playoff game. I agree he needs to mature a little. We don't need a celebrity qb, we need a field general. That seemed to work with Aikman and Staubach.

As you said though that is preception, I doubt Romo will live his life based on preception because preception is not reality. Granted he will have to listen to people making these claims and if he can deal with that then no big deal

The challenge I have with the article is figuring records next season based upon the results this season.

I mean who, at the end of last season would have pegged the Cowboys at 13-3 this year? Or an even better example would be Green Bay at 13-3? Or look at New Orleans going 7-9. If I recall a lot of folks like Carolina going into last season-- and Philly.

You just know there will be plenty of suprises come next season. Honestly I don't see the AFC East being as bad (outside of NE) as it was this past season. Buffalo suffered a horrendous number of injuries and I can't see the Jets only winning 4 games again and the Fins only winning 1.

Oh contraire... Once it reaches a "tipping point" perception IS reality. At least for many people it is-- is that right? No, but that's how it works. As a matter of fact us folks in the marketing field specialize in making "perception" the reality for many people.

Right now the perception of Romo by many is that he's immature and took his eye off the ball in order to hang out with the stars. Again, is that fair? No. But for many people that is their reality of the situation. And I'm betting if you asked Romo right now, he would say it was a stupid move going to Mexico.

I disagree. The preception was also that Jessica was a distraction because people saw her at the Philly game? the reality is she was at other game and we won but no one talks about that. Are players now to tell their girlfriends hey don't come to the game because some think you are bad luck or a distraction? Give me a break!!! Preception is what is in the heads of others and had nothing to do with reality. If Romo goes out and wins no one gives a damn if he loses he will catch hell no matter what he does he could have stayed at Valley Ranch 24/7 and if you lose you will catch hell that is reality. I don't expect any of our player to live in the world of preception and as long as they are not missing time or getting into trouble what a player does on his free time is his own business.

You may disagree until the cows come home mate, the fact is that there are a good chunk of people that think Romo lost his concentration over the whole Jessica Simpson affair. Like it or lump it-- thems be the facts.

I don't doubt there are people who feel that way but so what that is their opinion and it means nothing. Many people precived that Peyton Manning could not win the big one after all he never did it in college and had failed in the NFL then he got the ring. Preception is what is in other peoples heads and who gives a damn what someone else may think. Is Romo to ask their premission on how he lives his life? Fact is you win everyone loves you and you lose and everyone is raking you over the coals and giving their own view as to why it happened that is the fact .

He's right. more than a few times I saw backs like Jacobs get 8 yards on 1st down. Dallas usually had a lead in games so teams got away from it, but they were still gashed at times.

The vacation wasn't a disaster. In fact, it was probably very relaxing. The aftermath proved to be the disaster, i.e., the Cowboys losing to the Giants.
