Cowboys' future appears bright despite falling short of ultimate goal

i

A young team with plenty of cap space, Dallas has some contract decisions to make with Jason Garrett and Dak Prescott, but it's a team with momentum.

#38 is a lifetime of backup...Period. I don't know how many other ways to say it.

He's a great special teamer!

Does that sound better?

It is only bright if they learn the appropriate lessons from this season.

Honest self-evaluation off of a moderately successful year is the only way to go.

If they spend a ton of time dwelling on the positives of digging out of a 3-5 hole and ignore the reasons why they got in that hole to begin with, then they will never improve.

It was a pretty decent run, but it was not sustainable. You could say they overachieved.

They need a new offensive design. They need better defensive linemen, especially at the interior.

But we all know what we are likely to do. Spend most of the offseason feeling good and warm and fuzzy about the positives and go right back at it again.

Sign our own. Do zero in free agency. Cross our fingers and hope to get better.

Red still here the future looks like crap
I will not buy in on this concept that the future is bright.

It's the calm before the storm.

After 2014 we cratered.

After 2016 we cratered.

After 2018?

We crater.

This team always puts too much stock in it's successes.

Then fails to address the real problems until forced to.

That is what happens when the owner is the GM and there is no outside scouting going on to shape rearming the team.

Too many YES men who tell Jerrah what he wants to hear.

Never going to change.

After 2014 Romo got hurt, after 2016 Zeke got suspended. Romo isn't here anymore and Zeke won't be suspended next year.

I wish a former player, coach or front office employee would pull the curtain back on the sham that is football operations at the dallas cowboys. Just come out and write a tell all or do an exclusive interview and expose everything. Finally shine a light on Jerry Jones and Company. Let us know that all that matters is the show is profitable and they make enough money to fund private yachts and pay the rent on jerry world.

"pay no attention to the guy behind the curtain....."

-Second youngest team in the NFL
-Youngest team to make the playoffs
-No starters over 30
-All Pro Running back
-All Pro Center and leader of of the offensive line returns after missing the season
-Going to have one of the best receiving duos in the nfl with Cooper and Gallup

Give me Earl Thomas/Adrian Amos and Grady Jarrett and lets get back at it

Earl Thomas and perhaps an upgrade at DT would really make this defense elite.
if the salary cap space is there I say get it done. hopefully in the draft we can get another young DT in the middle rounds. need to quit having nothing but undrafted free agent players trying to start.

I believe we are near 70 million in cap space.

Keep in mind you must resign a few guys (Lawrence). But plenty of room to be players in free agency unlike years past

I see a photo of Garrett. Therefore, our future is what it is here. Divisional round exit as the ceiling. When will people realize this?
