I hope that Roy and Barber come back and show us something this year. Then maybe some of the fans won't be so hasty to kick them to the curb.
If Roy has a bigger year than Austin, Austin will become a "one hit wonder." If Barber has a bigger year than Felix or Tashard, then Felix is a bust and we should have traded Tashard when we had the chance.

Won't ever end.

It seems wise to limit him [Barber] and jones to maybe 15 carries each a game and what is left over give to TC. If Barber gets broken down again bench him and put TC in his place. Then release Barber after the season.

That seems like a particularly wise course of action.

I would give Barber a few games to prove he can still produce at a high level in a rotation with another back. If he doesn't produce consistently in those September games, I would start playing Choice in his place for a number of carries. Not limiting Felix, mind you - I would still give him his 15 touches - only Barber.

IOW, if Barber isn't producing early on, Instead of the 15/15 split that you mentioned between he and Jones, I would go with something like 15 to Felix and then 10 to Choice with Barber getting what is left over.

Then, if Marion doesn't do anything with those few carries, I would assume that he just isn't what he used to be and simply split between Choice and Jones by the end of the year.

I honestly think that Choice is going to be more productive than Barber. However, I feel like Barber has earned the right for one more shot at carrying a big part of the load. He has left all he had out on the field for the Cowboys and us fans, and he is still a young back, so I say let him have one more shot at it.

Echo this. It is mind numbingly redundant whining.

No more redundant than hoping some one comes back and shows us something.

Hell I hope Newman is the newman from 3 years back, and Hamlin plays like he did in his first year. I hope demarcus gives us 20 sacks again, and Romo throws 35 tds but protects the ball like he did last year. Pretty much I hope everyone with a blue star on their helmet has career years.:D

but the Barbarian is done as a featured back. He's been a heck of a warrior, but unless he restructures his contract to reflect his new role of a situation back, the Cowboys shouldn't keep him. ANd even if he did, it's something they'd need to think about long term because each carrie he gets is one less carry that Choice does. He shouldn't be more than a short yardage back, 3rd back, role entering this year. He's too beat up.

Week 1: 14-79 5.6 ypc 1 td
Week 2: 18-124 6.9 ypc 1 td

Then he got hurt.

Yep I'd say he is completely fishished as a feature back.

That's the 4th 100+ yards game he's had in 2 years, 9th in THREE years, and, more important, the only one last year.

Also, over the past 2 years, he's had 8 plays of 20 yards or more ( 4 in each season ), none more than 35 yards.

There's absolutely NO doubt he's done as a featured back. As a matter of fact, I shouldn't call him a featured back since he's really never been one, having only 6 games of 20 or more carries over the past 3 YEARS combined.

He's been a warrior and even though this gets said alot, it's absolutely true about him: if more players on the Cowboys had the competitive desire that he does, there's no telling where the team would have end up over the past 3 seasons.

However, even though he doesn't have many carries, because of his physical runnign style, his body is not responding the way it used to.

Agreed.

Your signature says it the best, but, using Troy Hambrick and Wayne McGarity as the players instead of Drew Bledsoe.

Is it me or does MB3s running style and Felix health point to the obvious? Guess not in Valley Ranch where egos have to be stroked!

They say it starts at the top and no one likes his ego stroked more than the Owner!
