That's what makes the Chaz Green pick a bad one at least now. They knew about his injury history at Florida and should have known about the hip. It might payoff in the future, but it's one of the few gambles they have made lately that hasn't had success, and now we are pressing.

I didn't like that pick. Wish they went with a runningback or trade up and get Tevin Coleman. But it is what it is. Other than that I think the FO did well this off season.

they are concerned that if Tyron goes down with injury Romo career is essentially over because there is currently noone serviceable to replace Smith. Hate to be that dramatic with it but its THAT important to cowboys.

The boys know they need someone who can play a few games at LT and not get Tony killed. Right now that would be Free but clearly they are worried about his chronic foot problems and want someone else that they can somewhat feel comfortable protecting Tony's blindside. Parnell was that last year and clearly at the moment they are worried that they do not have anyone to back up Tyron if Free cannot do it.

Personally, I think if you moved Zack Martin out there, he would perform well. They just don't seem to want to make that move, as he hasn't taken any snaps there.

They should have taken Daryl Williams out of OU....He may not have been your swing tackle for this season.....but he would have pushed Free for his starting RT spot right now. Pretty short sighted IMO.

When you have a player that makes the ALL PRO team as a rookie you will not move him until you have exhausted every other possibility.

he's a clown...that Charlie Brown

but seriously...could we sign him to PS or not? Don't know the rules on that. Is he too old or been in the league too long? TIA

Brown has been active and started too many games for the practice squad. He's also played horribly at both New Orleans and NYG the past two years.

I don't think you are looking at this right. He wasn't being counted on as a big contributor this year. Drafting him was about next year and beyond as Free's replacement. Calling this a bad pick or gamble is really the wrong call just 4 months after the draft.

you do bring up good point. The president did play LT at ND in 2010.

Too bad we don't have a strong quality back up candidate at EVERY position on offense. If we did, we'd be the only team in NFL HISTORY to have that.

Too bad there's a salary cap that prevents these types of things.

Gosh, we only got a 1st round top 10 pick as a UDFA to back up at left guard. And we only have a former starter to back up as center and LG. And we only have another former starter to back up as RT. Behind the best 5 starting collective offense linemen in the league.

Whoa is us that we don't have a quality LT back-up! The sky is freaking falling! Whatever shall we do, if our 25 year old beast of a LT goes down to injury?

Let's see. Well, we'll do EXACTLY what every other team in the league would do that ALSO do not have a quality back up at every position. We'll DEAL WITH IT.

Where is this information about the Cowboys management and coaches being worried about Doug Free's foot coming from?
