ORLANDO -- We told you last week that Dez Bryant, the Oklahoma State wide receiver, was coming to Valley Ranch for a visit.
Jerry Jones confirmed the visit during a 40 minute interview with reporters on Tuesday afternoon at the NFL owners meetings.
Bryant is projected as the top receiver coming out of the draft, yet the Cowboys have the 27th pick of the first round. There are some off-the-field issues with Bryant such as him getting suspended for the 2009 season for lying to NCAA investigators regarding his relationship with Deion Sanders. His lack of a stable homelife has also concerned NFL teams.
However, Bryant has always been a humble kid and very likable.
"I just don’t want to be sitting there on draft day with a great opportunity," Jones said, "and not having really done what we ought to have been doing which is know everything about him or any other player of that quality."
Jones also said the possibility of drafting a wide receiver might not happen and he praised his young receivers in Sam Hurd, Kevin Ogletree and veteran No. 3 receiver Patrick Crayton.
Wade Phillips told reporters on Monday he's been pleased with the work of Manuel Johnson, last year's seventh round pick and Jesse Holley, who joined the team as the winner of Michael Irvin's reality television show last year.
