News: ESPN: Ex-(Cowboys)-QB Mark Sanchez arrested, faces three possible charges

Come on now, he was an NFL QB — of course he’s innocent. Probably the old guy’s fault for not asking for an autograph. I mean, how dare he not recognize the greatness of Mark ‘The Legend’ Sanchez? Honestly, the man’s lucky… another athlete might’ve finished the job. You know, O.J. style

A handful of other teams is spot on......and as usual if you're in a Cowboy uniform long enough for a cup of coffee, we always see "Former Cowboy". Former Eagle, Former Bronco, Former Bear, and Former Commander is dismissed......sounds like Journeyman QB would have been more accurate.
The term “former Cowboy” is used in an effort to get sympathy for the guy being charged with a crime.

......they also know that the team universally despised by the fans of 31 other NFL teams will eat it up like candy

....or to cast the organization in a negative light.
How negative can it get? The team is talked about because it’s lightly regarded by opponents while its big mouth owner acts like the team is significant. That contrast is a little newsworthy, but a lot funny.

No other owner of a bad NFL team constantly talks like their team is great when even casual fans can identify a team that stinks. The Cowboys stink and their aged owner seems oblivious to it. Because of his age the derisive narrative aimed at Jerry, by even Cowboys fans, will turn to pity. As it should. And his own family won’t spare him ridicule. They should be ashamed.

It's been done as far back when the SB winning teams had the "White House" to hide their transgressions and when a large number of teammates would have been suspended or arrested or both.
