News: ESPN: Ex-(Cowboys)-QB Mark Sanchez arrested, faces three possible charges

Agree.

Dude gets stabbed then charged?

Lots of crazy people on the streets at night.

He shouldn’t have been out late by himself.

Rich people are also a target for law suits.

Protect yourself.

He’s lucky to be alive.
Dude...read the reports. Sanchez was hammered (told police he couldn't even remember what happened). Surveillance showed him trying to break into this man's truck because he was pissed that it was blocking his wind sprints at 1:30 in the morning in an alley. He threw the elderly man up against the wall and beat the hell out of him before throwing him into a dumpster. The man defended himself with pepper spray at first and when that didn't get him to back off he stabbed him before Sanchez could further hurt him.

Anyone who has made it this far in the thread and still needs answers with all the links that have been posted, and all the information that is readily available on google from a hundred different news sources, just stop.

Holy crap! That’s horrible. So let me get this straight. A 40 year old former NFL player beat up a 69 year old! Wow! Mark is not a good person. Mark got what he deserved and I hope he goes to jail for a long time. Alcohol is no excuse. Those pictures are pretty gruesome. That’s bad stuff right there. Very disappointed in Sanchez and I hope the family of the victim sues the snot out of him and Mark faces jail time.
The victim has filed a lawsuit against him and Fox. He’s screwed.

He's lucky the blade didnt cut the artery in his stomach.

Different ending.

Crazy people on the streets.

Be safe out there.

He’s lucky the blade didn’t cut the man’s throat instead of his face as well.

You made it all the way to page 5 in this thread. You have seen the details and have chosen obtuse as the angle you're going with.
Obtuse? A learned man of the internet? I thinketh not!

For if he truly were learned, he would be aware that replies to posts are not shackled to their place of origin, but are flung unceremoniously to the last page of the thread. Thus, a user may engage with a comment upon the very first page, only for their reply to materialize upon the final page, without so much as a glance at the intervening leaves of discourse. Furthermore—brace thyself!—a user may, with all the grace of a gazelle, skip from one page to another without trudging through each page like some medieval peasant.

So, good sir, I must retort: it is not I who has chosen to don the heavy cloak of obtuseness, but perchance you who have seen fit to wear it.

You’re right. That elderly man may have beat up himself. Or, maybe, someone that looks like Sanchez beat up the old man, ran off, and Sanchez, who was doing wind sprints in that same alley after midnight, got stabbed so police only think he was involved. Nothing but wrong place at the wrong time.

I’m sure he’s a victim of circumstance. This is an outrage. That old man should be arrested. Because he was never an NFL player.
I was just asking for a link to learn more. I’m not sure my question could really be taken as “right” or “wrong”—it was simply a question.

I hadn’t seen the details in the post I replied to and just wanted to read more.

Maybe take a break from the internet for a bit? Relax.

you are literally on a device that allows you to answer your own question without bothering others.

don't be so lazy.
It's the internet, it's where we come to be lazy!

I could go to the library and get index cards to find the information or go to the internet and have it provided to me.

Figure it out.

Some sources are reliable. Others are not. It was the same way before the internet. Just because a source can be found online does not make it unreliable.

Eloquent retort. All that to get back to the original point, the details are out there, and if you were interested in them, they're a keystroke away.

Sounds like he may have been slipped a Mickey into his drink. This is nuts. His behavior is way out there. Glad the man he stabbed didn't die. Mark is getting what he deserves.

Come on bud, a mickey? He wouldn't be running wind sprints on a mickey...why try and invent scenarios that diminish from his personal responsibility. We agree that he got what he deserves.

Hold up. I'm just asking what if. That is all. Seems to me we haven't seen this kind of crazy behavior from him like ever. That's odd and so we should be asking about all scenarios.

Now it may be a case of those that know him were aware of a trend in his personal behavior and decision lapses. We don't know. It will come out if he's been struggling personally and professionally. That said, NOTHING excuses attempted murder. That's exactly what he would have done if given a chance. He tried.

I wasn’t asking about the credibility of the information—just if I could have it to become informed.

Let me spell it out more clearly:
I wasn’t aware of the situation beyond the fact that Sanchez was stabbed, later arrested/charged, and that the other guy was beaten badly.

I came to this thread to learn more. While reading posts, I saw a comment about pepper spray—something I hadn’t seen or heard before. To @AbeBeta 's chagrin, I googled the story and read a few articles, but still didn’t see that info or much beyond the initial reporting. So, I asked the commenter for more details… preferably a link. To learn. That’s it.

I don’t know why my question (which has since been answered with a link) has drawn any additional attention—especially from you, since you seem to have some other motive here.

Relax. It was just a question.

I'll direct you to my reply to @KingCorcoran above. I did look for the info, couldn't find it, so I asked. (Not sure what the frick is going on)

Here are the updated sequence of events that I've heard to date. The running sprints part sounds weird though

  • Sanchez came back to his hotel, completely hammered and decided to run wind-sprints in the servcie alley behind the hotel.

  • A man who's regular evening job was to take the oil drums of grease from the hotel pulled his service box van up to his normal spot to collect the grease and it blocked the alley....as always.

  • Sanchez told the man he had to move his van so he could do his sprints.

  • The man said he had to do his job and could not move his van until he did it.

  • Sanchez tried to get in the van to move it and an argument escalated.

  • Sanchez punched him and he maced Sanchez. Sanchez pounded the man until his face was mashed potatoes and the man stabbed him to get him off of him.

Maybe it happened that way, maybe not. But I do feel that man had every right to have his van in that alleyway.
Pretty sure Sanchez was in the wrong from the start. Maybe the stabbing happened before the pounding?
No idea.
