ESPN Get Up: Maxx Crosby for George Pickens?

Sounds like one of the Philadelphia sports radio guy offering Aj Brown for Crosby. DE at that level is a lot more expensive than a wide receiver. I don't know if a first-round pick and lamb would be enough.
Eagles’ fantasy. Nonsense.

Eagles’ fantasy. Nonsense.
That is the point I was making. Crosby for Pickens would never happen unless it was at the end of Crosby's career. It's the time of year for all the stupid football nonsense to come out. It means nothing it's a waste of time talking about because nobody relevant is involved that could make real football decisions. It's how sportscasters make a living passing the time.

This would be a dumb trade worst than not picking Randy Moss and trading to 1st picks for Galloway. The Cowboys don’t need an aging DE. They let D. Law go to Seattle.

They need corners, so Crosby doesn’t help us at all.

Giving up Pickens would turn our offense from top three to somewhere in the top ten or lower. And we’d be stuck paying an aging DE over $35 million per year.
he’s 5 years younger than tank, twice the player, and letting tank go was a mistake. the offense has been top 3 several times with dak at the helm

We had Parsons for four years. Where are the championships? I mean we didn't even get CLOSE. Crosby was just extended last year. It's more likely that they keep him.

Crosby is a more complete player than Micah, and we have Q now additionally. Our biggest weakness with Micah was obviously the run, and we're better equipped in that facet now, and would be much much better there with Crosby. But also, I'm not advocating for trading for him, was just pushing back on the D Law comparison. I also think with this team in particular saying "this didn't work so.." is just not the best argument, because there are so many things that haven't worked for so many different reasons lol.

I like this deal. Crosby will be 29 this year and is under contract until 2030. his highest salary is $30 million (in 2026) and that can be converted to bonus to lower his CAP impact.

He is a high motor player and the Cowboys could use a guy like him. It solves one problem on the defense.
And creates one on offense

Straight up trade? Sure.

But you could also just sign Hendrickson, Chubb, or Phillips and keep Pickens.

You cannot draft a WR at 12 or 20. We have way too many defensive needs.
You can if you make this trade. Fortifying the pass rush makes life easier for the back 7. The internal pass rush is as good as it gets, and Ez likely develops into a strong edge rusher with good instincts against the run. Crosby immediately upgrades the other end spot. He's strong against the run and pass, and brings leadership intangibles that should resonate through the rest of the team.

They could upgrade the roster by going CB/WR in round 1, and filling LB and S through FA. Lamb/Rookie/Flournoy should be good enough to keep the passing game moving forward. The upgraded DL pressures QBs into earlier throws, providing relief for the secondary. Upgrade two LB spots (it won't be hard to do), and we're in business.

And creates one on offense
I am willing to give up a little offense to make that defense strong. It will take more than Crosby, but a pass rush will go a long way to improve the defense. And keep in mind, in 2023 CeeDee had 1700 yards receiving and the Cowboys averaged 387 yards per game. That would put then 3rd in the league this year. Behind CeeDee they had Cooks and Gallup- who had a bad year.

They can be fine without Pickens but they will need a stronger defense.

Yes I'd swap them 1 for 1 no problem. The team currently has a #1 WR, but doesn't have a #1 DE.

Well...we've had D-Law and Demarcus Ware as well. I'm just saying that Seattle doesn't have all-world edge rushers. They are good, pro-bowl level guys but what Seattle did was more of a platoon style defense...with good depth. I wasn't one to believe that trading Parsons made the defense better but the situation deteriorated on both sides for whatever reasons. There was a silver lining to it all because I believe that building a defense from the inside out is probably a better way to go. You need pass rushers no doubt, but the middle of the defense...from DT to LB to Safety needs to be stout. The Cowboys have neglected that spine for too long. They did try with Mazi Smith but it's been some time since the Cowboys had a high level, pro-bowl DT. Not since Jay Ratliff in 2011. It's been an even longer time since Dallas had a pro-bowl type safety. Woodson (1998) and Williams (2007).

The last time that Dallas had pro-bowlers at DT-LB and S was the Superbowl years.

Every dak fan should jump on this....daks' awesome offense needs a defense. The logical thing to do is slice off some a that o and give it to d.

Which makes the MOST sense. Crosby just got extended less than a year ago. I wouldn't bet against cooler heads prevailing in the end. But it may be that the Raiders want more than is prudent for the Cowboys to give up in draft compensation.

Raiders are likely going to want more than a 2nd for Crosby...who was just extended less than a year ago. First he has to request a trade. That hasn't happened yet, as he is still recovering from injury. The rumors are that they think they could get TWO firsts for him to accelerate their rebuild...definitely one. I don't see how Pickens fits into that equation. They wouldn't be ready to win anything in 2026 anyway...so the cost-benefit ratio seems dubious. But...I guess we will see, as reportedly there should be a decision made on or about March 11.

agreed. that’s a fair take.

I’d rather do both and I think we can. We can fix 2 spots in the draft . We need edge,LB, safety and CB. Draft to fix 2 and sign FA to fix the other 2.there are edge rushers in FA who may not be Crosby level but it strengthens a position without weakening another
