EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The one-game suspension of New York Giantswide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been upheld on appeal, and Beckham will not be permitted to practice with the Giants for the remainder of this week or play in Sunday night's game in Minnesota.

Adrian Peterson reached out to Odell Beckham Jr. to give the receiver support in the wake of his one-game suspension.

The NFL issued the suspension Monday, the day after Beckham was flagged three times for unnecessary roughness for in-game dust-ups with Panthers cornerback Josh Norman in the Giants' 38-35 loss to Carolina. In handing down the suspension, president of football operations Merton Hanks ruled that Beckham's actions put his opponents at unnecessary risk of injury.

"Acts that jeopardize the safety of players or expose them to unnecessary risk cannot be tolerated," Hanks said in his letter to Beckham on Monday.

Per his rights under the collective bargaining agreement, Beckham appealed the suspension Wednesday in front of jointly appointed appeals officer James Thrash at the NFL offices in New York City.

Shortly before 5:30 pm ET, Thrash issued his ruling, and the league announced that Beckham's suspension would stand.

Of course it was denied.

What possible defense could the guy bring to the table?

That headshot was probably the most flagrant attempt to injure someone since Haynesworth cleated Gurode in the mug.

Im sure he brought the same defense his coach used in his presser. The other team taunted him in the pregame. They said some things that werent nice. His feelings were hurt.

I actually thought Wallace's move was just as dangerous. He didn't have all the other incidents, but if it had been up to me he would have gotten a vacation too.

Coughlin completely mishandled this entire thing.

Had he done his job as a coach and sat Beckham down for a couple of series it's likely that none of this ever happens. Instead of sticking his head in the sand, ignoring the WWE antics of his WR, he should have engaged him directly and told him to have a seat and that he could return to the game once he decides he wants to play football.

If he does that the Giants probably have a locked in, focused OBJ for 3 quarters on Sunday instead of for only 1/2 the 4th quarter like we saw on Sunday.

Additionally, they'd also have the services of OBJ on Sunday. So essentially by sticking his head in the sand and playing dumb, Coughlin sabotaged the Giants chances for two games.

No way that suspension was gonna be overturned.
That was a nasty intentional helmet to helmet hit on Norman, who by the way is lucky Beckham is just a ballerina.
Can you imagine the mess if Norman ended up with a head injury after that hit?
