Demarcus Ware OLB Dallas Cowboys #94
2007 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 80 | Key
Alert: None

Comment: Ware has elite athleticism, speed and playmaking potential. He has a great attitude and has made a very smooth transition from 4-3 end to 3-4 outside linebacker. He locates the ball easily and has tremendous instincts for a young player. He has outstanding initial quickness and anticipation skills. He gets to the ball in a hurry. He comes off the edge with great lean, uses his hands well and is starting to develop a variety of moves. He can set up a tackle and beat him back inside. He is a great space player and is very tough to block on the perimeter. He strings out plays, slips blocks and is an excellent tackler. He has the leverage and hands to step up and fill when teams run at him. He has good recovery ability when he gets out of position. He can turn and run with tight ends and is adequate dropping into zones. Ware still can improve at taking on blocks. He takes himself out of some plays by slipping blocks and being so aggressive in space.

*Note: Ware scores 80 on a 100 point scale. Chad Johnson WR and Peyton Maning QB are the NFL's highest ranked players by Scounting, Inc. at 95 each.

You want to put Merriman above Ware and I'll completely understand, but to give Merriman a 93 and Ware an 80 is a joke. Merriman couldn't cover a puppy with a king size blanket which means he isn't a complete OLB. The only difference between Merriman and Roy Williams is size/strength. Ware should be higher than 80 and Merriman should be lower than 93. (lower than 93 unless you are just counting his pass rush skills on roids ;) )

I think Scouting, Inc. on ESPN Insider is attaching enormous value to sack totals. There are so many things that Ware can do (in coverage mainly) that Merriman can't do.

Bulluck makes little sense to me too. He is a playmaker, but I think his best years are behind him.

You know what may be funny? If Bradie James continues to improve and make plays, he could end up in the high 70s to low 80's by next year's scoring.

Thoughts??
