I think Beasely is one of the biggest reasons for the offense's success this year. That man is abusing people.

So is it your opinion that Beasley is just NOW finding out how to get open whereas he wasn't last year or the year before that?

Of course its tougher to defend an offense that doesn't turn the ball over to you multiple times a game or doesn't try to force low percentage passes downfield resulting in numerous 3 and outs per game. It's very hard to defend an offense led by a QB that just continually finds a way to get a 9 yard gain on 3rd and 8 instead of throwing an int or a 25 yard pass to a double teamed WR.

I've never seen so many excuses for OUR OWN quarterback's success. It's surreal. We're sitting at 5-1 and ppl want to replace the starting QB who has a 68.7 completion % and 7:1 Td to INT ratio.

Our failure, in the case of Romo.

Look, I love Romo and appreciate what he's done. But many Cowboys fans bend over backwards to make excuses for him. If he doesn't get it done, it's always "He can't do it alone. He needs a running game or a better defense or better play calling, etc."

But now that he's on the bench recovering from injury and the Cowboys are doing well, it's "Well, with that offensive line who couldn't play well" or "With Ezekiel Elliott, Romo would be even better" or "Now that the defense is playing better, we'd be destroying teams with Romo", etc.

I don't want to lose this momentum, which is why I favor keeping Dak in even if Romo is healthy. But I would like to see what the excuses would be if we inserted Romo and we fell short again. It would probably be some other excuse. Yawn.

No. I think Beasely has been underutilized in the past, but I also think he has really stepped up his game this year as well. Working with Moss in the offseason seems to have paid off.

So whose fault would you say it was for Beasley being underutilized?

This is the largely the fun and excitement of this team. We're greater than the sum of our parts which is what every team should strive for. We just flow right now. All facets helping the other. Very efficient and confident team right now. This is not to knock anyone just an observation of THIS 2016 team.

Mostly the coaches. He was used more towards the end of 2014. Last year, it's hard to say with the QBs we had, though I saw him get frustrated at times when he wasn't looked at. I think he's moved up the chain of priorities, especially in certain situations.

That's how I judge it. You can say he should have led Beasley a tad, but if he had you cannot be sure it would have been a completion.

That's not a very objective measure. An accurate pass is accurate, regardless of whether or not it is caught. And inaccurate passes can be caught as well. An underthrow like that has a higher chance of being knocked down or intercepted. If you miss, it is better to miss where the defender isn't coming from.

That play is an example of Beasely balling more than anything else. The fact that the throw was not that accurate and he was still able to make the catch is evidence of that.

Maybe. Re-watching it, he did have to turn his body and, perhaps, slow his stride a bit. However, it was not want I would call an inaccurate pass.

I wonder how much it is Dak. The other quarterbacks either didn't get the ball to him or couldn't get the ball to him.
Dak is getting the ball to him, so that's a plus.

Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Time for me to put some perspective on this lame thread. So Dak puts the ball in a place where his receivers can catch it, and somehow this is bad? I'm still waiting for Dak to have a 4 or 5 interception game. You know those accurate passes to the opposite team. Love those...

Romo doesnt get rid of the ball as quickly as Dak and it leads to a lot more negative plays..Dak doesn't provide nearly as many wow plays either...but this offense doesn't need it...Romo takes more sacks...he's gotten to the point where he eats sacks..he just folds up and takes it...and it also leads to more offensive holding penalties bc he's holding the ball longer

Romo is definitely a better passer of the football...but that's not the entire equation...
If and when Romo returns..

defenses will sell out to rush him and force quick throws and sacks.

Romo's patented spin move to buy time is not going to work anymore as nobody will believe he is going to run.

This leaves him a target as always.

Not being mobile..having missed nearly 2 seasons with injury..

is not going to make Romo like his early seasons..

He's in trouble right now and the team needs to stop talking about him and play who they have.

This is no one's fault..it's just the way it is.

Next summer Romo can try to challenge DAK for the starter.

If he can run..if he can throw and if he can stay healthy..fine.

Otherwise..him as the #2 means great things or us and for him.
