I understand what Garrett is trying to say. Basically that if we give you a second chance we give you the structure with guys like Jason Witten, Sean Lee, Tony Romo, Tyron Smith and Brandon Carr to stay the course. But if you fail to adhere to the RKG mentality, ie Hardy who reportedly disrespected Garrett at some point, you wont be back. Jerry on the subject is saying he'll keep taking risks with guys like that. It in his DNA he says.

So maybe dont expect a Hardy this season, but maybe a Spence is in our future.

I think this is exactly it. If the reward is there and they think their support structure could work, they'll take a risk. Especially if they can mitigate it with a pay as you go contract. If not, they won't.

Isnt it amazing how all of us are always "just wrong" when its plain as day obvious how things work here in Dallas? A few poster have NOTHING ever to complain about it seems while the rest of us are just plain wrong and always barking up the wrong trees and overly critical.

Yet the team rumbles on with its low character additions and 500 record under Garrett. 4-12....nothing to see here!!!! LOL

It's not remotely debateable that character is HUGE to Garrett.
You'd have to be borderline brain dead not to acknowledge that much.
Like he said, Dallas has taken some risks too...though my guess is that he preferred to not get Hardy and some others.
There are 53 players, so Jerry will talk him into accepting some risk if it's only 5-10% of the roster.

Character is huge for Garrett. That is without question. The only problem is that it isn't to Jones and he is the one that decides who comes and who goes. So really, the RKG mantra may be crowed about out of his mouth, but it means very little as is quite obvious. If you cant at least see that, then you would most certainly have to be full on brain dead.

I think this article and this character speech may have more to do with Gregory being drafted in the 2nd round and being suspended than it does Hardy. Sounds to me like they're still a little crispy over Gregory.

Character matters, no doubt.... But so does a head coaches ability to coach from an X's and O's standpoint. It ALL matters. A team needs not to fail miserably in any aspect or you're going to have issues winning and keeping it together long term.

He has not been there 20 years and he has shown some clowns the door. Cowboys will give 2nd chances the rest falls to the player to get with the program or they are shown the door.
