The Cowboys didn't need to watch film of the Washington Commanders' upset of the Denver Broncos to know they'd be in for a fight against the NFC East's last-place team.

The Commanders have won five of the last eight games against the Cowboys.
"They've always given us the blues," linebacker Bradie James said. "They'll be ready and we have to get ready."

Cowboys-Commanders used to be perhaps the NFL's most bitter rivalry. It's probably the only one that featured a funeral wreath being thrown into the loser's locker room, as legend has it ex-Dallas DE Harvey Martin did at a crazy Cowboys comeback win at Texas Stadium in Dec. 1979.

There's more venom at Valley Ranch toward the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles these days, since those division rivals have ended the Cowboys' season the last couple of years. But the Cowboys realize that the Commanders still take the rivalry very seriously, so they better match that intensity.

"We know this is the Super Bowl for them," tight end Jason Witten said. "That's the type of mentality they have."

Ouch. Might be true but you don't really want to give a team that just beat the Bronco's bulletin board material.

Nothing against Witten. He's a hell of a talent. But that wasn't smart to say for a guy who hasn't even been close to a superbowl himself.

He was also the guy joking on the field before Troy Vincent blocked that FG, and Sean Taylor picked it up. I forget who missed their block. I want to say it was him.

The Skins aren't just bad. We're bad bad bad.

Its a division rival game. Usually that means anything goes.

Though, it should be more important for Him and you guys since we're already cooked. You still have a chance to make some noise this year.

For a guy who has never won a playoff game and was one of the reasons Troy Vincent blocks a late game FG, those are some big words

The Cowboys should have no trouble over a terrible Commanders team this weekend.

Lmao...could you find a more irrelevant stat?

It is your Super Bowl. You know it. We know it. No sense getting upset by the truth.

Don't think that's a stat. That's missing an assignment and losing a game for your team.

Big difference.

Keep your mouth shut.....do your job....and that would have been a "W".

This year, yea, totally. Give me a split over Dallas and I'll be happy with 4-12

Again though, big words by someone who hasn't had a post season victory. :)

I wonder how the Facebook/Cowboys/Commanders Walkout-AFTER-the-National-Anthem-Is-Over-At-FedEx-Field petition has progressed? Maybe they'll talk with some of the petitioners about it during this Sunday's game. That is, if they can match actual people with the internet petitioners list.

i'm suprised Witten said that stupid comment. I just hope we match their intensity cause we haven't done that too much recently.

I'm almost positive Marc Colombo blew his assignment on that Vincent blocked fg.

Cowboys better treat it like a SuperBowl too. From here on out, every game should have that kind of importance, that kind of intensity, from players to coaches.

This game has ALWAYS been more important to Washington, which makes the fact that Dallas leads the all-time series by nearly 20 wins even more remarkable.

They HATE that we are thought of as America's team even though they are the team from our nation's capitol. They HATE that we held their precious fight song hostaged so they would let us start our franchise and then have promptly spent the last 50 years making them regret it. They HATE the Harvey Martin funeral wreath story. They HATE that they hired George Allen solely to beat Tom Landry and the Cowboys and Dallas still turned out to be the NFC's team of the 70s. They HATE that Dallas has dominated the all-time series. They HATE that Dallas has more division, conference and Superbowl titles. They HATE that even in the Cowboys' worst stretch in franchise history we have still won 18 of the last 24 meetings.

They just straight up hate, hate, hate us and everything we stand for, but even more than that, they envy us. They want to us. They want to be "America's team". They want people to care about them even when they suck as the media has obsessed over the Cowboys even in our down years. They have a terrible case of little man's syndrome and it drives them to put more emphasis on teh two games against us a year than any other year. They could go 2-14, but if they sweep the Cowboys it's a huge moral victory. They care more about beating us than anything else.

I always used to hate Washington. Now I have noticed myself developing a complete and total indifference towards them. I can't hate something that pathetic. Their franchise is an absolute joke in every sense of the word and I would pity them if I didnt find it so damn funny.

I remember that quote on here quite a bit last September

A few hours later on a particular Sunday, there wasn't much indifference :)

For a perennial 9-7 team, the Cowboys can't afford "indifference"
