Great find! It is good to hear some positive remarks on our new #1 receiver.

To be fair, i haven't heard Troy say he has doubts about Roy W. What i heard him say is that if Roy doesn't live up to the expectation of jerry and the coaching staff, it will be one of the biggest trade bust in Cowboy history.

Schlereth seems to think a lot of Roy Williams and his ability to be the #1 receiver this team needs. I loved the line about "Pro Bowler in Detroit".

As both have said, Williams has been the #1 wherever he's been.

In my opinion, last season's struggles had more to do with this team's offensive struggles than they did with Williams suddenly turning into a bum who can't play.

The Cowboys, for whatever reason, failed to utilize Williams skills properly, which now leads to the doubts about him being a #1 receiver. But I place that on the Cowboys more than I do Roy Williams.

Yeah, but if Troy didn't have any doubts, he wouldn't have brought up the possibility.

I haven't made many comments on our passing game this offseason, mainly because I have a feeling it's going to be just fine complementing our torrid ground attack! :)

If we go to camp with our current roster, Romo has:

Jason Witten
Roy Will
P Clayton
Felix Jones
Miles Austin
M Bennett
Sam Hurd
MB3
T Choice

To me, that's not too bad when you include the TEs and RBs in the mix.

At one time, not long ago actually, I thought RW11 was on par with Larry Fitzgerald, and actually I thought he was the better of the two.

Then last season happened.

I still think he can be the great wide receiver he was, but I just need to see it. I have heard that he had the foot issue, but I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.

Until I see him actually do something, I am very pessimistic about what he can do and have to assume the Lions took us to the cleaners...

We will see.

Troy is in the media now and he is just stating the obvious. We traded 3 draft picks for him and a 7th....we gave him 9 mill a year...we cut TO. Either Roy produces, or this is yet another huge blunder for JJ.

BTW, Troy didn't really say anything too harsh. I can't remember word for word, but it seemed like Drew Pearson was more negative and upset about Roy being our #1 WR. Apparently he feels the #1 should be earned and not just handed over without a test run. I agree with Drew somewhat. However, Roy did produce when healthy, in Detroit.

I have plenty of faith in Roy Williams, though I certainly understand where the questions and concerns about him are coming from, but I do believe with him and all the other weapons Romo will have to throw to (Witten, Austin, Crayton, Jones, Barber, Bennett, and Choice) that we're going to be just fine in the passing game. Where we need to improve is our committment to the run and our O-Line must step up and pass block better.

Bingo.

Why people keep missing that, I don't know.

It was nice to hear Schlereth echo some points I"ve made about Roy Williams. It was nice to hear the other side of the story.

analysis..

Instead of taking pot shots or making incredibly stupid arguments, Schlereth explains it how it really works in the NFL.

I hope people pay attention to that.

:hammer: :hammer:

Its got taken and spun another way.

I agree with Troy.

We had every bit of info available to us and it would take a disaster for us to mess that up.

That's what I heard from Troy as well.

Thats not true at all.

I agree with everything Troy said, except the biggest bust in NFL history part, and I have no doubt Williams can play.

If he was expecting good things from Roy, I don't think he'd be planting seeds of doubt. He was very hard on Roy during the last Philly game, calling him out for his poor route running. That no doubt left a bad impression on Troy, who never had any patience for less than meticulous receivers.

I have less concern over whether or not Roy can produce than I do that he can stay healthy for a full season. He has only played 16 games once and that was 2006 when he went to the Pro-Bowl.

Frankly, we don't need him to catch 100 passes for 1500 yards and I seriously doubt he will. I would rather see him as just one of the weapons we have on offense and see the ball spread around a lot more than it was last season.

With Roy, Witten, Bennett, Felix Jones, Barber, Austin (I hope), Crayton, etc. all being part of the passing game, we should see the ball distributed much more evenly than last year.

Williams doesn't need to be THE GUY, he just needs to be reliable and make plays when his number is called.

Troy was hard on him.

I esp remember an in route where Samuel beat him to the spot and nearly intercepted the ball.

However, RW coudn't even cut properly that game. I think it's only recently that he is able to cut with his foot problem hopefully behind him.

I don't think last season was indicative of RW's talent or ability to play in our scheme.

Troy has been bashing Roy since he was still in Detroit.
