According to Espn Mock Draft we get rolle at #11 and Merriman at #20. This is a very good draft and I would take this any day. Also, many of you are thinking we wont take a corner high because of what parcells said. Don't you think that parcells might be playing the media here. By doing this he may be able to drop rolles value in order for us to nab him at #11. He knows how important good corners are in this league. He drafted newman at #5 for a reason. Corners have high value in the nfl today, people pay a lot for them in free agency and are alwasy drafting them high. I can see him taking a corner high, you never know what hes up to. Rolle stayed his senior year to be a top 5 draft pick, according to himself and his agent. My friend met with him and talked about his draft and how hes covering recievers. He says key to telling wether reciever is getting ball is if they tighten their gloves. I wouldnt be suprised if parcells made a move here to get him.

Actually, they say Jerry is the one who wanted Newman - and Parcells was against it.
He really wanted Dwayne Robertson a defensive tackle who the Jets took.

With two picks in the first round and none in the third, I fully expect Jerry and Bill to "get cute" and move around, probably down.

My poor heart won't handle it after last year. I wanted Stephen Jackson so bad.

But aren't you glad your wish didn't come true now? I mean even St Lious wants to look for a RB, since they have doubts about his durability according to latest news out of there.

Hos you don't think that JJ is just going to sit there and make the picks when it's his turn do you? Imagine if Merriman and DJ are still there at #11. I want a war room cam!!!!!

Merriman is a junior, so you weren't watching him practice at the Senior Bowl

One thing that DID concern me about Jackson was his durability... the Rams are already looking for an insurance policy...

Reed probably just made a simple mistake and got Merriman confused with someone else. But I must admit, I did chuckle reading your response, VT.

Using a 1st round pick on a CB is a total waste of a draft pick now. With the way the NFL is now callin PI for a CB just lookin at a WR wrong CB is really a waste of 3 round pick or higher. Until the NFL actually lets CBs play the game I woldnt spend any higher than a 4th rounder on CB.

I agree. Your best chance for playing pass defense is putting the heat on the QB. Please God, give us a guy who can actually rush the passer.

Either pick #11 or #20 will be dealt. Count on it.

I dont know about that.

I have a feeling that last year there were 3 RBs on the board when we were to draft last year and we figured we could make the trade and still get one of the with the Bills pick.

It worked out well for us and if a similar situation arose we would do the same.

The 20th pick seems to be a prime spot for trading down with tho. From most accounts there wouldnt be much drop off in value from trading down as many as 15 spots form there.

I am just hoping that we are able to do well in FA and sign DT, OLB/DE, Oline help, backup RB and CB with all of our cap room putting us in position to go BPA. Signing 5 quality players is a tall order though.
