The Baltimore Sun's Web site is reporting the Ravens are close to reaching a deal with linebacker Bart Scott, which might suggest the club is preparing to part ways with future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis. According to Mike Preston, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti (my former boss) was irritated by the fact that Lewis kept talking about the Jets and Cowboys. I still think Lewis was simply trying to create some leverage, but he may have hurt himself in the end.

A Cowboys source told me Thursday morning that the team doesn't have a strong interest in Lewis. Of course, that could change a few minutes after midnight. But as of this minute, I don't think the Cowboys will make a strong play for Lewis. They're too worried about signing linebacker DeMarcus Ware to a long-term contract.

Could Lewis end up with his old defensive coordinator Mike Nolan in Denver? That's the latest buzz I'm hearing. Stay tuned for much, much more on the free-agent front.

Ray wants Dallas, Jerry loves stars and you know he's read the stories Demarcus put out there and probably heard them straight fromt he source.

I think there are to many little things that add up for Jerry not to be more then a "little" interested.

The other things you mentioned like the snitch and the whole Witten/T.O. controversy never bothered him during the season. He just said it was not happening and even seemed amused by it which was far from the reaction he had recently.

Lewis will at the very least visit us, from there who knows. Anyone suggesting that jerry isn't intrested is foolish. Why would jerry tip his hand either way at this point.

Exactly.

The talk about the discussion of cutting TO is what set him off. That's one reason he kept repeating that he makes all the personnel decisions, to emphasize that those stories were worthless unless they came from him.

He may have been amused in the beginning, but like you said after stories like the house story and putting Stephen Jones in an awkward situation, he may feel the media speculation crossed the line.

The gag order isn't so significant that tidbits like these won't be leaking out of Valley Ranch. It's those spectacular stories that will piss off Jerry.

i honestly don't care if we sign anyone. the place will still be a joke if we do or don't. so don't take what I said like I care.
