By Matt Mosley

My flight home from Indianapolis to Dallas featured some of the top offensive tackles from the combine. Still wearing their black Under Armour gear with names helpfully written on the back, Oklahoma left tackle Trent Williams and TCU left tackle Marshall Newhouse took their seats in first class.

They both attempted not to snicker as Oklahoma State left tackle Russell Okung, projected to go in the top five of the draft, made his way back to the economy section. I counted at least seven offensive linemen on my flight, although I didn't catch all of their names.

Before the plane took off, a large man in 4C started peppering Williams with questions about the combine. Williams seemed slightly annoyed until the man said, "Hi, I'm DeMarcus Ware." Williams' eyes got big and he suddenly became a little more talkative. Perhaps he realized that he might have to face the Cowboys outside linebacker at some point down the road.

Ware was in town meeting with representatives from the players' association. The soft-spoken Ware is apparently taking a much larger role in the process now that his mentor, Greg Ellis, is no longer with the Cowboys.

One little nugget from my conversation with Ware: He said second-year outside linebacker Brandon Williams is ready to make a move this offseason. He thinks that Williams could become a key contributor as long he's willing to sell out in the weight room this offseason.

"I'm going to take him under my wing," said Ware.

And that's the best news Williams has heard this offseason.

How great is it to have a guy like Ware on this team?

It's rare I am genuinely proud to have a guy on the team. Ware makes it really easy.

Ware-Spencer & hope Williams joins in on the fun next season... really would be a huge help allowing Spencer or Ware to take a breather every now and then

I don't doubt Wade's ability to judge defensive talent, especially a 3-4 OLB. Brandon had a very productive year in his last year at Tech, but he was still so young when he left and he was a late-bloomer who wasn't highly recruited coming out of high school. I'm very excited about his future.

Don't know if people remember, but Ware did also same thing with Spencer. Now, till this year, I used to think that Ware was just being real nice. Although he did show glimpses first year, he fell off second year.

So if Ware says Brandon Williams can be real good, I am going to take it as truth, until he proves to be wrong.

When I saw him at the preseason game, I was surprised at how big he looked. You can't always trust the program heights and weights, but he's tall with a big, lanky frame. And he was only, what, 20 when we drafted him? If he lifts hard, he's going to be a really big kid in a year or two.

Like I was saying in the draft forum, it's funny how guys like him never get mentioned in all the million mock drafts people put up, and then he looks like a real talent right from the start.

I just hope his knee heals up ASAP, but apparently that isn't a problem. Another article said he'd be 100% for OTAs, which is kind of hard to believe.. I guess the surgery must have gone extremely well.

It doesn't hurt my feelings when Wade Phillips endorses the player after a pre-draft workout at Valley Ranch.

The Son of a Bum knows 3-4 linebackers.

I'm excited about the depth we are developing here.

Ware has a chance to go down as the greatest Cowboy ever and that is saying alot. Would be a shame if he never won the big one.

Didn't he tear an ACL? I would think after this long his knee would be 100%.

What happened to needing a full year for an ACL -- and all the athletes who say even after that, it takes months or even the next year until you truly have full strength and feel like yourself again?

Just wondering. Obviously it's good news they can come back so much faster now, but what has changed for them to come back in only eight or nine months? Rehab just that much better?

What was the injury Brandon Williams had? It wasn't that crazy knee injury that could be a career buster, was it? Or was that someone else.
