Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens was kind enough to discuss his budding acting career with Hashmarks following the club's organized team activities session Wednesday.

For those of you outside the TV-film community, T.O. recently made a guest appearance on Flava Flav's new sitcom, "Under One Roof," which airs each Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on MyNetworkTV. The show was recently extended through next Wednesday following T.O.'s powerhouse performance as Flav's long-lost brother, Sean.

On Wednesday, T.O. talked about how he didn't want to be typecast as a comic actor -- especially in light of his emotional performance after last season's playoff loss to the Giants. Asked what type of feedback he'd received from coaches (Wade Phillips is a huge Flav guy) and players, T.O. provided the following answer:
"They enjoyed it. I think I surprised a lot of people with my performance. If I wasn't comfortable [in front of a camera], I wouldn't have done it."
When another reporter interrupted to ask whether T.O. would consider participating in "Dancing With the Stars," he said ABC approached him about it before last season's competition and that he "graciously declined." T.O. said he'll wait until his wedding to take up ballroom dancing.

At this point, we resumed our acting discussion. He said a "very smart" casting director in Los Angeles will help him decide what roles to pursue in the future. For his next gig, he'd like to pursue something a bit more serious, although "Under One Roof" certainly provides some important life lessons, such as don't let your troubled brother take the rap for a wreck that was actually your fault because he may be paroled someday and end up living in your mansion.

Anyway, I asked T.O. what TV shows inspired him growing up. He said "The Cosby Show" and "Good Times" caused him to dream of a post-football acting career.

About that time, Tank Johnson walked by and quoted one of T.O.'s lines from "Under One Roof." T.O. said he spent this past weekend at Jamie Foxx's house, and that the Terrell, Texas, native is one of his favorite actors, along with Morris Chestnut (Boyz in the Hood), Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery and Anthony Hopkins.

He said that some of his friends have taken to calling him "Denzie" in an obvious reference to the aforementioned Washington.
"I'm trying to get there, but I'm plateaus away from where he is."
I started to tell T.O. not to sell himself short, but resisted. I'm thinking Denzel's career would have to do more than plateau for T.O. to catch up with him. Unless he agrees to star in the movie version of "What's Happening!!", I'm thinking Denzel's probably safe.

T.O. also pointed to how The Rock has done in Hollywood. Then in an abrupt subject change, T.O. began discussing the NBA playoffs. Behind him, a Kobe Bryant jersey hung in his locker. Asked about Kevin Garnett, T.O. said, "I think the Celtics are kinda shaky right now. You can't be taken to Game 7 every time. They're going to be spent."

Oh, one last thing: T.O. said he wasn't worried at all about a new contract. As he enters the final year of his contract, he said his strong relationship with owner Jerry Jones is what makes him feel comfortable that a new deal will eventually be reached. He also had some thoughts on Chad Johnson's situation, but more on that later.

along with Morris Chestnut (Boyz in the Hood

that sucks when you have to be referenced to a movie that you played in almost 2 decades ago

Especially when he's played in so many other movies since then...I guess that's the most notable.

therein lies his problem:D

but you're right, BoyzNtheHood wasn't that good of a movie, it just exposed alot of white people to the ghetto, so we were all like, "oh my gosh, how riveting!"

you ever see Don't Be a Menace? it's a spoof of BNtH w/ the Wayans brothers, minus Damon, funny ish

Morris also was in that Cave movie a couple of years ago, horrible flick

I absolutely LOVED Don't be a Menace. One of the few movies I saw in the theater. And what made it so great, is that it killed all future "hood" movies of that sort.
