Quick update on Cowboys' punter

Many of you recall that Cowboys punter Mat McBriar suffered a broken right foot last October in an overtime loss to the Cardinals and missed the rest of the season. I had a chance to visit with McBriar recently and he said the foot was "95 percent" healed and that he'd be ready to go if the season began tomorrow.

He'll wrap up the Cowboys' voluntary workout program before making his annual visit to his hometown of Victoria, Australia.

Injured punter, injured kicker, injured S/T coach. We're definitely going to turn the corner on S/T this year!!!

Even injured our punter and kicker are still good. You may not realize how good but McBriar is worth waiting for because when he booms it, you can bet that ball is going to chew up the yardage. Knock our kicker if you want but when the game is on the line, hes got ice in his veins and even injured our new ST guy gives me more confidence than the last two. So I'd still take this unit over previous ones. or least i have to remind you of Billy Cundiff?

McBriar could have one functional leg and do better than that awful punter we had replacing him. And as long as DeCamillis' brain isn't injured, he's better than Read was. Folk worries me, but we have Jesus Buehler to fall back on.

Unfortunately, when he booms it too far, our inept punt coverage gives it all back. Hopefully that changes this year.

Our punter is 95% healed now...I was told that Mcbriar went to the new stadium and punted as high as he could to make sure that the new video-screen would be high enough not to affect high punts.
If this guy is just 95% now...it makes me wonder if that video screen is still going to be a problem when the games start.

Yes the coverage was bad, and i agree that goes back as far as DeHaven. Ill take the big booms because it does change the field for us so dramatically that yes, even our bad coverage could and a few successful times has let the opponets run it back. But he is such a great punter reminds me of Jett some times but with a better leg. I think that was the punter of eons ago. Had a decent leg and great air time.

If i read correctly, they have had to been raised already because he was booming the ball so hard he did hit them. If i read correctly.

I would imagine the video screen is not static - probably be able to tighten the cables supporting it to raise it up.

Don't recall hearing him going to the new stadium. But I do recall that he and the other punters practiced that back in 2007 when they were in training camp at the Alamodome.

95% now means he'll be 100% by training camp. He'll be more than ready come time to play games so I'm not worried about him, at all.

Anyone remember when Mosley used to call McBriar "The Best Punter in the World"?

Damn ESPN Assimilation.
