What's the best WR duo in the NFC East?
August 26, 2008 4:51 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Matt Mosley

I was reading Kevin Seifert's NFC North blog earlier today when I noticed that Lions wide receiver Roy Williams claimed that he and Calvin Johnson are the third-best receiving duo in the league. Williams was humble enough to rank Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne first. And he put Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh in second place.

I'm wondering how you guys would break down the duos in the NFL East? It's pretty obvious that Terrell Owens is the best wide receiver in the division, but his sidekick Patrick Crayton still has a lot to prove.

If the Commanders were thrilled with Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El as their starters, they probably wouldn't have drafted two receivers in the second round. But the Commanders look positively loaded at receiver next to the Eagles, who might begin the season without starters Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown. At this point, rookie DeSean Jackson and Hank Baskett are the starters.

I think it comes down to T.O.-Crayton vs. Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer (with Domenik Hixon nipping at his heels). T.O. is more explosive than Burress, but not by much. Toomer has a lot more experience than Crayton, and has played in a lot of big playoff games.

I think you have to choose T.O. and Crayton because they're more explosive than Burress and Toomer. The Giants won the Super Bowl, but quarterback Eli Manning will be the first to tell you that his offense didn't hit on enough big plays during the regular season.

Now, I'm anxious to see what you guys think.

Santana Moss, Kevin Curtis, Reggie Brown, Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer

Its actually pretty sad, we are the best of the worst though when it comes to receiving cores.

I think I could run down burress, I am not sure I could tackle him, but he isn't in the same ballpark as TO, and the mere suggestion of this enough to discount the article for me

I can't say that about Harrison and Wayne until I see Harrison back.

1. Moss and Welker
2. Fitzgerald and Boldin
3. Housh and Johnson
4. Williams and Johnson
5. Wayne and Harrison

1.Commanders just loaded with a whole lot of talent at WR
2.Cowboys Crayton still has to prove that he deserves to be a #2
3.Giants Buress and Amani is not better than Crayton but still good
4.Eagels have had this problem for a while

I don't get it. Best of the worst? I am really starting to miss the early '90s. There was only about 30 - 40 of us on a Cowboys board. There were one or two jerks but after a couple of bannings everything ran petty smooth. We took out the trash. You know the idiots that had no understanding of football and only posted for their ego's to see how many people would respond.

This darn board seems to be infested with that type of uneducated poster.

Oh the good old days.

not buying number one by a longshot

Owens is eons better than any of their WR's...Crayton is better than any WR on their roster not named Moss..and yeah, I'd take Crayton any day of the week over Randel El

as for their remaining "loaded with alot of talent" guys...I havent seen it yet, and niether has anyone else

yes I agree with Owens and I would take Crayton ove Randel El but Randel El is more a threat than Crayton is, plus there WR core is loaded with talent

I personally think Crayton will have a pretty big year, although I've been on his sack since he got here. I felt like last year was an aberration, especially in the playoffs.

That being said, Toomer has some skins on the wall and I've always thought he was a really good veteran, but Toomer+Burress is more like a reliable volvo than explosive, so I'll take our guys.

Crayton scored more tds than Randel El by 7-1 last yr....he had more big plays and alsready has more tds in his career even though Randel El's played 6yrs and Crayton's played 3 1/2...yds per catch Crayton has him 14.3 to 12.6, which is very mediocre for a WR

I think the best duo is still Owens and Crayton and I don't believe it's even a close race in this division.
