I have seen Mike Glennon drop to the 3rd round...I wouldn't be opposed to taking him at that point TBH.

Maybe him that late.
But
I say he goes in the top 45 picks

No, it doesn't mean that. Why would you ask that question?

It means, they'll extend him just past the point where they think they can readily find a better alternative, so they can have some overlap between the two players. Then they'll have to bring in a talented rookie at some point to develop to take over where Romo leaves off. That's not going to happen without an extension to Romo's current contract, though, in any scenario.

Why, we can let him play out next year, draft a QB, franchise Romo if the rookie needs a year.

With his track record I don't think he should get more than 3 years but I know stupid jerry will extend him to a 6 year deal.

You want to pay him his balloon payment this year, take that massive cap hi, then squeeze in a payment for a franchise QB's salary next season, while drafting a pick in the 18-20 range at QB who'll then replace Tony as the starter in 2015 with whatever's left of our roster at that point? Maybe try to lure a new coach here in the process, to a team with a gaping hole in its salary cap and no franchise QB available because we let him walk in FA and then replaced him with what'll be probably the 3rd or 4th best rookie in next seasons draft?

That'd be insane, and it'd very likely be a major step backwards at our most important position on top of the damage it'd do to the rest of the roster.

Three years is a safe extension. We'll end up spreading it over 5 to amortize the cap hit sufficiently, and then eat the last two years, probably.

I will never understand why the RomoNutLovers on this board always ignore that his window is closing and he is running out of time

If i paid attention to the people on this board I would think Romo is 26

classy...

I took the generous assumption that he was referring to Romo-nuts and Romo-lovers and not the less permissible alternative. But, yeah, that wasn't lost on me.

It just too many on this board. One fool said he would still take Flacco over Romo after he won twice on the road and won the SB:bang2:

If it was that easy and simple to get a franchise young QB then all 32 teams would have one by now. It takes lot of luck and great draft to make that happen.

Cowboys should wait until next year to draft a quarterback. Kolton Browning, Louisiana-Monroe would be a great developmental quarterback. The guy just makes plays.

Yes he clearly loves players from Arkansas as porven by the fact that he drafts at least one every year and often 2 or more.

oh wait....let me make a list of Arkansas players the Cowboys have drafted since JJ became owner.

1) Felix Jones
2) ...
3) ummm

not in this draft...they need to get a guy eventually and I like the idea of bringing a QB in every year until someone sticks, but the QB class coming up is not likely to be a HOF class

..keep Tony happy and on his feet (i.e.: give him an OL)...

Why not this draft? Who could have seen Russell Wilson or Colin Kapaernik?

We'll never find out unless we try.

Take a quarterback in the first round. Or don't take one. Period.

The middle rounds are worse than the late rounds.

I'm not sure there is a single quarterback in this draft class that has the potential to be a top 16 quarterback. Why take a qb just to draft one and then take up a roster space to impede drafting one next year? We need to draft one but I don't think the players available fit that need. The top tier QB"s this year seem to be a tier down from the quarterbacks in the prior years drafts.

We don't need another McGee just for the sake of saying we drafted a qb. Drafting JAG at qb is pretty much the same as not drafting one at all. The only difference is that by not drafting a JAG qb you can use the draft pick on someone else. The guys who have any chance in this class will go way higher than where we would select them based on our current needs.

I'd take Romo over Flacco, too. I assumed he meant the opposite of what he said, but I didn't want to get into that tired debate again. Both QBs are good enough to win with, the rest doesn't really matter.

They should draft a guy at some point this draft. Later rounds. Cheap ...teachable...smart...see where it goes.

Side note: The Ark comment is still having me laugh. Wow.

The bashing of the idea, of drafting a late round QB seems silly however.
You know you are going to need new shoes...do you wait until they fall apart ? You get a pair to wear when your favorite pair has falls apart...then you have a new pair ...just in case.

I think if we can get Warmack/Cooper in the 1st, Matt Elam in the 2nd, Tyler Wilson in the 3rd we would be in great shape.

or trade down in the second, get Warford in the second, spend the first 3rd rounder on Tyler Wilson and the second third rounder on Shamarko Thomas.

Realistically, I could justify taking a QB early if we grabbed OL, and S around the QB pick.
