RMcClain was held out for "cramps." That doesn't even qualify as a strain or bruise.

Ever run with cramps? No? It's because you can't man. It's why you see players folded on the ground in the middle of the field with a leg in the air.

No one ever said Spencer would be ready week 1. Spencer has said himself that he HOPES to start doing individual drills by week 2 or 3. Maybe start team practice by week 4. Meaning we shouldn't expect to see him anytime before week 5.

Why he was not put on PUP or IR is Jerry being Jerry.

During training camp he kept saying he would be ready week 1

DL who can work into the game are fine as it was supposed to be a rotation anyway.
With Ware gone I am not sure we even notice as others come and go.
Selvie or Mincey to me is basically the same guy.

Ware didn't do anything last year. His 6 sacks all came at the beginning of the season. Last season Ware is easy to replace

also saw The first-team linebackers Thursday in drills were Rolando McClain in the middle, Justin Durant at weak-side linebacker and Bruce Carter at strong side

Odd. Maybe I've been out of the loop, but since when did they switch Durant and Carter? Carter has always been on the weak side. He's playing strong now?

So 3/4 of our starting DL is out Sunday, plus Lee and Scandrick. 5/11 projected starters out and it's only Week 1.

Awesome.

I think it was after the 2nd preseason game (maybe 3rd). Carter definitely played at least on preseason game on the Strong Side.

They had originally moved Durant to WLB to start the off-season, but then moved him to MLB after Lee was injured. Once they became convinced that McClain was likely to start at MLB, then they moved Durant to WLB and Carter to SLB.

well put. And I agree with the coaches moving Carter. I expect to see less position movement now until a rash of injuries hit. I also expect this defense to be pretty decent as a whole. Cheers!

That is where they had him lined up Thursday with the starting unit. Dallas will put their 3 best LB out there

Just surprising is all since I thought Carter was the 'prototypical' WLB and Durant was SLB last year. I've been out of the country for the last few weeks so I missed the change. I always thought that of the 3, the SLB was the easiest to fill with an avg player and had hopes Carter could step up to be more of a difference maker once he had a year of this system under his belt.

Durant has primarily played in his career until last year.

Yes, in theory, the SLB is the least important LB position in the Tampa-2; although, I don't think Marinelli is going to run the exact same system that he has used in the past.

That should be Durant has played primarily WLB in his career prior to coming to the Cowboys.

Mickey also said recently that Spencer realized that if he rushed the injury that he would be right back where he started.

He's been going under the advice of the trainers and do far everything is looking good as the cartilage has regenerated in the kneecap.

The issue now is to make sure that the cartilage hardens and stays there with him getting in football shape.
