It was Cowherd who said this morning and for once, I actually agree with him. He went down our roster and said we have a lot of good but not great players, lots of B+ guys. He said we have a better overall roster than Arizona but Arizona beats us because they have more bigtime players.
I agree with what a lot of the posters are saying here, that we do make a lot of big plays. I have to admit I am jealous of teams that have guys like Larry Fitzgerald, Ray Lewis, Peyton Manning, etc. All of those guys have their off days but most of the time they make the much-needed or big plays. I would just love to know that when we need a play in a crucial game we know that a certain player is going to make it. Like the Aikman/Irvin/Emmitt days.
I think D Ware is as close as we got but teams are game-planning him and no one (coaches or players) is stepping up to make teams paying for it. Ratliff, Witten, Romo, and possibly Austin are all potential impact players but so far, I'm not ready to bet the house on them every week.
I think this draft has 3 or 4 players that will have an immediate impact in the league (Eric Berry, Ndamukong Suh, Dez Bryant, and Rolando McClain). If we can trade up (way up) and get one that would really improve this team. I'm not sure if there is a free agent out there who can fit the "A player" label but if there is, we have to consider him.
More than anything, I think that we have a roster full of talented players who seem to fold under pressure. It's much easier to replace the Head Coach than it is to replace 50 players. If we don't win a playoff game this year, Jerry must go out and get a coach who will DEMAND discipline and get the most out of this talent.
